Hi everyone! As you’ve probably noticed from my recent posts, I’ve been trying to make sure that our new apartment not only has pretty decor, but that it’s also organized. Oddly enough, I think I picked a great time of year to do this. Although I’ve been out of college for years now, I always love shopping during back-to-school season. Many stores offer great affordable organization products that you don’t necessarily have to use in a dorm room!
I’ve been making progress, but one area that I’ve been avoiding like the plague is our guest bathroom. We don’t use this room that often, so it’s basically out of sight, out of mind. That’s no excuse however, because I LOVE entertaining and making sure that our guests are as comfortable as possible when they visit. I had some extra time during Labor Day Weekend to give the bathroom some TLC, so today that’s what I’m sharing with you.
Keep reading if you’re interested in some tips that I’ve implemented in my own home to prepare for future guests.
1. Deep clean the entire bathroom – don’t forget about the floor, shower head, sink and vanity area
2. Empty the bathroom trash can BEFORE your guests arrive
3. Stock the shower with shampoo, conditioner, body wash and shaving cream
4. Fill a basket with smaller amenities that your guests may have forgotten {i.e., toothpaste, loofa, toothbrush, razor}
5. Keep refills of bath products under the sink, neatly organized in bins or baskets
6. Freshen up the room with a scented candle or essential oils
7. This might be TMI, but always keep a plunger either next to the toilet or under the sink
8. Add fresh towels for overnight guests
9. If you have enough space, add a hamper so guests know where to throw used towels and linens
10. Keep extra toilet paper near the toilet
The last tip sounds like a no brainer, right? Well, who has ever been in this situation? You’re at someone’s house, need to go to the bathroom, and the toilet paper runs out. You look in all the obvious places in the bathroom for an extra roll, but you can’t find one. That happened to me once in college, and ever since, I swore that I’d never let that happen in our home. I want to have a properly stocked guest bathroom, so my guests feel as comfortable as possible during their stay.
We like buying Quilted Northern Ultra Soft & Strong® Mega Rolls, because they are 4x bigger than your average roll. This means I don’t have to run out to the store as often to refill them, and I never run out when guests are over. You can find them at Target on the end cap in the toilet paper aisle. Use this Target Cartwheel offer to save 20% off your next purchase of Quilted Northern.
