24 WEEK BUMP DATE
Baby is the Size of an: eggplant or ear of corn depending on the app {approximately 13 inches long and 1.5 pounds}
Gender: Little lady.
Names: We already know, but aren’t telling anyone. The name isn’t weird or anything, but we’ve had the name picked out for a long time and don’t want other people’s opinions swaying our decision. Some girl names that I liked at one point but we decided not to use include Nora, Serena, Olive, Remi, Lucy and Hazel.
What I’m Wearing: The weather’s been a tiny bit cooler this past week, so I was able to wear some of my non-maternity oversized sweaters. Not sure how long they will fit, so I’m taking advantage of them while I still can. Other than that, I’m wearing a lot of the items I’ve talked about in previous bump dates {21 weeks, 22 weeks, 23 weeks}. I plan to purchase some tops from Loft in the coming weeks – this blouse, this pink pullover sweater, and this cardigan if it ever comes back in stock.
How I’m Feeling: Overall, I’m feeling pretty good. I can’t complain. Every once in a while I’ll get lower back and hip pain, which is likely due to carrying around some extra weight. Other than that, I’m just tired. Some days I feel like my belly is too big for the second trimester, and other days I think it’s not big enough. Internal struggle here. Either way, I’m trying to eat as healthy as I can and not worry too much about the weight I’m gaining. I have to remind myself that all of this is to make sure that our baby is growing into a strong little lady.
Cravings: Grapes, ginger ale, chai lattes, and Tropicana lemonade.
Aversions: None.
Favorite Products: No new favorite products this week, but I need some help picking out a baby book. I’d like to get that started sooner rather than later with all of her ultrasound photos. If you have a favorite, please comment or tweet me a link!
Best Moment this Week: This past week was uneventful, so there’s not much to report. My favorite moments have been snuggling with Pete, my mini doxie. I don’t know if he knows that I’m pregnant, but he’s been extra cuddly lately. I absolutely love it.
Sleeping: No problems falling asleep, but I’m tired ALL. THE. TIME. I could nap for three hours and wake up absolutely exhausted. It’s probably just a side effect of being pregnant. Since I have thyroid issues anyway, I’m going to see if I can get my levels checked to make sure my current medication dosage is still accurate.
Rings: They’re on, but on Saturday afternoon after walking around a festival for a couple of hours, my hands started to tingle and swell up a bit. Thankfully, the swelling went down within a few hours, but I had a moment of panic that my rings were never going to come off. I hope it was just a fluke and that I’ll be able to wear my rings throughout the rest of my pregnancy.
Baby Movement: Still feeling her in the late afternoons and when I go to sleep at night. Bryan can’t feel her yet, but I’m sure he will soon. Funny story – the other night I was in shavasana at yin yoga and the teacher was playing calming music with drums. Baby girl must have really liked the noise, because she was kicking like crazy.
Labor Signs: None.
Looking Forward to: Getting the details figured out for the nursery. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go with off-white or light beige curtains, so I ordered a few samples to see what they looked like in person. Once I get the actual curtains ordered and installed, I think I’ll be able to see a vision for the rest of the decor of the room. In general, we’re sticking to a lot of neutrals: cream, light gray, beige and pops of blush. I’m not a huge fan of bright pink or too many patterns.
