Holy moley… I’m 27 weeks pregnant, which means there’s one more week until I’m in the third trimester. I can’t believe that we’ll be able to meet our little lady in 13 weeks! It seems like just yesterday that I got a positive pregnancy test, but at the same time it feels like I’ve been pregnant forever. If you have children, can you relate?! It’s a strange feeling.
As we get closer and closer to Christmas, I feel like I have a million things to do and buy to get ready for baby. Luckily, I’m taking some days off work in December to get everything done, but it’s still a bit overwhelming. Hopefully she comes right on time, but I want to be completely prepared if she makes her debut a bit early.
27 Week Bump Date
Baby is the Size of a: bunch of bananas {approximately 14.5 inches long and 2 pounds}
Gender: Girl!
Names: Set in stone, but we’re keeping it a secret until she’s here.
How I’m Feeling: I’m doing great except for restless leg syndrome and round ligament pain, which I talked about in previous bump dates. These symptoms don’t necessarily hurt a lot or anything – just more of an annoyance. Other than those, I started feeling menstrual-like cramps on Saturday night. I did some googling, and I’m almost 100% positive that it was Braxton Hicks. They lasted on and off for about an hour or so, and I haven’t felt them since.
Recent Purchases: This week, I bought these nursing bras from Amazon Prime. They were delivered yesterday and I’m so pleased with my purchase. I haven’t purchased many clothing items from Amazon, and I was a bit skeptical that they would fit. But OMG you guys, they are SUPER comfortable. I’m not shocked though, because they received 4.5 stars and over 4,100 reviews! I will say that they run a bit small, so I sized up and they fit perfectly. I plan on taking these with me to the hospital, so I can feed easily and without having to fully undress. If all goes as planned, I’d like to breastfeed for an entire year, which means I’ll need a decent pump for when I head back to work after maternity leave. I’ve read lots of good things about the Medela Pump in Style Advanced and know a few people who currently use it, so I’m placing that order for one this week. {TIP: If you’re pregnant and looking for a pump, check with your insurance company! Mine is covering almost 50% of the costs for this model.}
Cravings: Chai lattes, peppermint tea and honeycrisp apples. I’m also back on the lemonade kick after a few weeks without it.
Aversions: So far, I haven’t had any bad food aversions. There are certain things that I just haven’t been craving and could do without, including avocados! Something about the texture of them just turns me off right now. Hopefully after baby is here, I’ll be able to eat them again.
Best Moment this Week: I crossed off another item on my “prep for baby” to-do list. Bryan and I went to a breastfeeding class last Monday night! I wasn’t sure how beneficial it would be since it’s all hypothetical stuff, but I learned a lot. It’s not like I could actually practice, yanno? Other things planned this month include our hospital tour and the dreaded glucose screening.
Sleeping: No problems in the sleeping department, since I’m tired ALL THE TIME. I’ve made it a point to schedule time on the weekends to take naps, because I know once baby gets here my napping days will be limited. I’m still using my pregnancy pillow, which has been a lifesaver for keeping my back supported.
Rings: are on!
Baby Movement: She’s still moving up a storm. I feel her most in the mornings and late at night, but every once in a while she’ll start dancing around while I’m at work.
Labor Signs: None
Looking Forward to: My baby shower this upcoming weekend!
