Hi! Can you tell things look a bit different around here? Boy, oh boy. It’s not perfect, but it’s getting closer.

Let me back-track for a moment. I’ve been thinking about revamping my logo and layout for a few weeks now. First, I had to come up with a new logo concept. After much back and forth with my friend and graphic designer, Danica, we put together a cleaner and more modern logo, which really speaks to what Simply Nicole is all about.  As much of a process that was, nothing could prepare me for finding a new WordPress theme and installing it. I’ve done it before, but for whatever reason, this time it wasn’t nearly as easy.

On Sunday morning, I purchased the Glam theme from Restored316 and got to work. When you install a theme, it’s not as easy as just copying and pasting the code. Not even close. It takes a lot of tweaks to get it the way you want it to be. If you checked out my site yesterday morning, you probably saw it looking all kinds of messed up. We’re talking fonts all over the place, photos resized strangely, and too much white space everywhere. It didn’t stop there, though. If you tried reading last night, you might have seen a blank page with an error message. {I was messing with the code and broke everything. Thank you Bluehost for amazing customer service!}

Just being real, folks. 

So why am I sharing all of this? Last week, I went out to dinner with my friend Jess, and she told me something really important. She said that she enjoys reading my blog {& others similar} because of the authenticity. People relate to real people. It’s not rocket science, but it’s something that I sometimes forget. It’s easy to compare myself to other blogs and bloggers out there, so sometimes I forget that each person’s situation is different. All I can do is be me. 

As many of you know, I work full-time, so I don’t have time during the day to fix my blog. With that said, it’s going to take probably a week or so {I hope!} to get my site looking the way I want it to be… and that’s OK. I hope you’ll continue reading my posts this week anyway. I promise that when everything is looking and working the way it should, you’ll be very happy with the new layout.
