Clarisonic Mia Review

When I first moved into my new place in January and purchased all the needed pieces of furniture and accessories for my home, I finally had extra money left over to spend on new makeup and skin care products.  I’m not sure whether it was living in a new environment with different water or more stress at work, but whatever it was.. it was taking a toll on my skin.

I purchased the Clarisonic Mia at Ulta as an effort to stabilize my skin and calm down the acne and redness.  Within the first week, everything seemed to be getting worse.  I was using the same Cetaphil cleanser that I’ve been using for months and loving, so I knew that it was probably my Clarisonic.  My face was breaking out in areas that it never had before and I was noticing more and more dry patches where my skin was literally flaking off my face.  Some days it was so bad that moisturizer wouldn’t help and makeup was just making it look even worse.

I immediately researched other consumer’s reviews and read that in some cases the Clarisonic can actually make the skin worse before making it better.  Some articles stated that the Clarisonic may actually make acne prone skin worse because it spreads around the bacteria across the face.  I made sure that I always thoroughly cleaned my brush head after each use and didn’t put on the cap until the brush was completely dry.  In hopes that it WOULD get better, I continued to use the Clarisonic once a day during my nightly shower.  After about a month, I purchased the gentle brush head for the Clarisonic Mia and gave that a try for a few weeks.  Although the dryness ended, the breakouts continued.

I used the Clarisonic Mia for 2 months before finally deciding that it just wasn’t for me.  Bry was tired of hearing me complain about my face and I was tired of packing on pounds of makeup to hide the blemishes.  Currently, I am waiting for Clarisonic to send me over the return labels so I can luckily get all of my money ($119!)  back from my purchase.

I hope my review doesn’t discourage any of you from buying and trying out the product.  It simply did not work for my sensitive skin.  Maybe it will work for you.  If you’ve tried out the Clarisonic cleaning system, please comment below and let me know about your experience!

Thanks for sharing Nicole! My sister has a Clarisonic & loves it — & I’ve heard lots of good things about it — but I too have very sensitive skin, so I’m not sure it would be for me!

Yea, I really did try and love it. I stopped using it for almost 2 weeks now, and my skin has cleared up.
