clean beauty favorites

I’m not someone who needs a whole bunch of makeup for different occasions. I like sticking to the same few things for everyday and then maybe an additional lipliner and lipstick for nighttime. Simple is better in my book. And as a busy mom, I like to keep things as streamlined as possible.

I recently did a full refresh of my makeup and opted to move to clean/non-toxic beauty. None of this is sponsored by the way. I used my own money and stand behind all these products.

Merit Complexion Stick in “Linen”

If you’re going to buy one item from this list, I’d recommend Merit Complexion Stick in “Linen”. I’ve never loved foundation. In recent years, I’ve used a CC cream, but even that weighed me down. My skin was left looking patchy and orange after a few hours. I was on the hunt for a concealer stick that better suited my undertones and kept seeing Merit’s Complexion Stick being raved about on social media. I bought it about a month ago and have used it every single day. It blends so easily into my skin. I wouldn’t use this all over, but it works wonders under your eyes, on dark spots, and on blemishes.

Westman Atelier Contour Stick in “Biscuit”

The Westman Atelier Contour Stick in “Biscuit” is worth every penny. I bought the mini size to test out, and I’ll definitely be purchasing the normal size. “Biscuit” is a cool toned shade perfect if you tend to look orange with traditional contours. Like Merit, I find that Westman Atelier blends so incredibly well. This is the only product I have from this brand, but I can’t wait to try their highlight stick. The packaging is gorgeous too!

Merit Cream Blush in “Cheeky”

I recently had my colors analyzed and learned that I am a Bright Winter season. This means, I have high contrast and cool undertones. I look best in cool shades and true colors (think primary colors and jewel tones). I look not so great in tans and browns. My previous blush shade was a warm toned bronze, which I thought was doing great things for me. Once I started using Merit’s Cream Blush in “Cheeky”, I knew I’ve been doing it all wrong. The cool toned, bright pink, complements my skin so much better than bronze. Merit has the best blushes, in my opinion. They are so pigmented and last all day.

Saie Glossybounce Lip Oil in “Dream”

I’ve never been a lipstick gal, no matter how many I buy and try to force myself. I love a good gloss that I can apply on-the-go. Saie Glossybounce Lip Oil in “Dream” is a gorgeous berry shade. It’s not sticky at all and keeps my lips super hydrated. It’s technically a lip oil so you can pack on the color as much as you need. Some days I’ll do a quick swipe and other days I’ll layer for a more pigmented look.

Ilia Necessary Eyeshadow Palette in “Cool Nude”

The Ilia Necessary Eyeshadow Palette in “Cool Nude” is absolutely beautiful for cool toned skin. It makes my brown eyes pop! I appreciate that this palette has very wearable shades. I use the lightest cream shade on my entire eye and then the mauve in my crease. When I want a more nighttime look, I use the dark berry. Last week, I was refreshing my makeup after lunch before a Zoom call and noticed that my eyeshadow was still on! No reapplication needed. If you want a warmer palette, Ilia has that too.

Ilia Limitless Lash Lengthening Mascara

I mentioned the Ilia Limitless Lash Lengthening Mascara on my Instagram Stories thinking it was a new find, but many of my friends messaged me saying, “I’ve been using this for years!” I’m clearly very late to the game on this one. This is the product that jumpstarted my urge to do a full makeup refresh. I was out of my usual mascara and figured it would be a good time to try a more clean brand. Everything I’ve tried from Ilia has been 10/10. It doesn’t clump and more importantly doesn’t get on my upper lid and create a whole mess during application.
