Dermalogica

The wonderful people over at Dermalogica sent me some amazing products that I HAD to share with you all. They sent me over the Clean Start Kit, which includes the Wash Off, All Over Clear, Ready Set Scrub, Welcome Matte SPF15, Brighten Up SPF15, Bedtime for Breakouts, Hit the Spot, & Smart Mouth Lip Shine (items in bold, they sent me for review).  The Clean Start line launched in March 2009 and is sold in over 2,000 stores nationwide.

Key Ingredients: salicylic acid (cleans trapped oils in pores and prevents future breakouts), botanical extracts (helps regulate oil production) & orange peel oil (revives, energizes and refreshes)
Functions: the foaming wash clears away dead skin and excess oil for deep cleansing
Application: lather in hands, massage over damp face, neck and chest, rinse; use AM & PM daily
Price: $20 for 6oz.

Nicole’s Opinions: This has such a great smell, and works well without burning your face. I keep this in the shower, & use everyday. Cleans well and isn’t harsh!

All Over Clear:
Key Ingredients: sesame seed extract (helps control surface oil), licorice, burdock & argan extracts (hydration), lemongrass (energizes and tones)
Functions: refreshing mist that control shine and hydrates
Application: after cleansing, spritz over face and body with eyes closed; use AM & PM daily
Price: $18 for 4oz.

Nicole’s Opinions: I absolutely love this product. Feels great against my skin, and the spray bottle is really unique. It has an amazing lemon smell! Can be used right before bed because it does not leave the skin oily.

Ready Set Scrub:
Key Ingredients: purifying clays (pulls excess oil from skin & controls shine), menthol (eases redness), silica (polishes skin for a smooth, brighter finish & scrubs away dead skin cells)
Functions: dual-action masque/scrub purifies and gently polishes skin
Application: spread a smooth layer over a clean face, avoid eyes! Let sit for 5-7 minutes and massage gently in circles over skin, rinse with warm water; use in the morning 3-5x per week
Price: $21 for 2.5oz.

Nicole’s Opinions: I’ve used this scrub about two times and I always feel so refreshed afterward. I left it on for about 5 minutes, and the product never caked or chipped off my skin. After rinsing, Ready Set Scrub leaves your face smooth, polished and dirt & oil free.

Welcome Matte SPF15:
Key Ingredients: oil controllers (minimizes shine, but keeps skin hydrated), salicylic acid (exfoliates and prevents breakouts), sunscreen (protects against UV rays without a greasy feel)
Functions: lightweight lotion helps control shine while protecting your skin
Application: after cleansing and toning, apply all over face and neck for optimum protection; use AM daily
Price: $24 for 2oz.

Nicole’s Opinions: I’ve used the same moisturizer for 5 years now, but since I tried the Welcome MatteSPF15, I couldn’t imagine going back to my old moisturizer. This matte moisturizer does NOT leave your skin oily and shiny. It protects against the sun, to keep your skin looking fresh and youthful. I use this before applying my foundation in the morning, in order for a smooth finish.

Bedtime for Breakouts:
Key Ingredients: salicylic acid (prevents breakouts), cucumber & licorice (cools and soothes, while keeping redness away), plant extracts (keeps overactive oil glands in check)
Functions: overnight clearing treatment absorbs quickly and wipes out breakouts lurking below the skin
Application: use at night after cleansing and toning, blend a thin layer into skin and allow for it to absorb; use PM daily
Price: $22 for 2oz.

Nicole’s Opinions: This is probably the most amazing thing ever. It has an amazing, relaxing smell which helped me fall asleep faster. It didn’t even feel like I had anything on my face. No oil, no strange odor, nothing. Before bed, I had a little redness in my trouble areas, but after applying this and sleeping, I woke up with minimal redness! Very surprised. 

Hit the Spot:
Key Ingredients: benzoyl peroxide (kills breakout causing bacteria), plant extracts (reduce redness and calm skin), zinc sulfate (purifies skin)
Function: concentrated spot treatment for the treatment of breakouts, helps prevent future breakouts
Applications: use before moisturizing, use as a spot treatment & allow time to dry; apply every 6-8 hours as needed
Price: $22 for .30oz

Nicole’s Opinions: Love this! I used to use a product with benzoyl peroxide for my spot treatment, but it always left my skin super dry. Hit the Spot purifies the skin, so it does not dry up any areas. If you have an open sore, it may burn a little, so be careful
