In my opinion, a perfect ambiance is the key to a successful event. Whether it’s a fancy dinner party or a casual get-together, the mood has got to be on point. The same rule applies for my work setting. If the environment isn’t right, my productivity dips way down. Strange? Please tell me you guys feel the same way.
Aside from my desk needing to be organized and clean, another way I create an ideal ambiance is by playing music. I change things up regularly, but I’m very specific about what I listen to. When I need to power through simple tasks, such as answering emails or pulling social media reports, I’ll pick something up tempo. However, when I need to boost my creativity and work on more content-related items, I’ll listen to acoustic jams.
Since a lot of you ladies {and gents} work full or part-time, I wanted to share with you some of the Spotify playlists that I love to listen to regularly while I’m at work. Hopefully you enjoy these as well. Let me know what you like listening to by leaving a comment on this post or tweeting me your favs.
Bomb Spotify Playlists for Your Work Day
- Your Favorite Coffeehouse – This playlist is exactly what you’d expect it to sound like. It’s a lot of soft rock, folk and acoustic music – stuff you’d likely hear at a coffeehouse. I love listening to this playlist early in the morning, especially during the fall and winter months. Call me crazy, but type of music always reminds me of working at home during snow days, wearing fuzzy socks and sipping chai lattes.
- Starbucks Acoustic – Obviously, the Starbucks Acoustic playlist sounds very similar to the Your Favorite Coffeehouse playlist. I keep both of them favored on Spotify, so I can switch between them if I get bored with one.
- Today’s Top Hits – When I need a boost of energy, I turn on Today’s Top Hits. It’s normal Top 40 stuff with a few surprises thrown in. If you’re obsessed with the new Taylor Swift music right now like me, you can find both of her singles from Reputation on this playlist.
- Music for Concentration – This playlist consists of instrumental music, which I find perfect for when I need some creativity {usually during writing tasks or brainstorming}. It’s really soothing and helps me focus on the task at hand. I’m not distracted by lyrics and the sound blends into the background.
- Peaceful Piano – Similar to the Music for Concentration playlist, Peaceful Piano is strictly instrumental. It’s great for when you want to listen to something other than your co-workers typing on their keyboards or talking on the phone. A lot of the songs are under 3 minutes long, but the playlist in total has 144 songs, so it’s bound to last you a while.
- Workday Lounge – I like this playlist because the songs are not as slow as the ones found on Peaceful Piano, but not as upbeat as Today’s Top Hits. It’s a great in-between playlist. Out of all the Spotify channels I’ve listed in this post, I probably turn on Workday Lounge the most often. I love listening to it on Monday mornings when I need a bit of energy.
- TGIF – Not surprising, but the TGIF playlist is the best one to listen to on Fridays when you’re ready for the weekend, but still need to power through a few more hours of work. It’s an overall feel good mix. It’s got many of the Top 40 songs, including “Sorry Not Sorry” by Demi Lovato, “Issues” by Julia Michaels, “2U” by David Guetta and Justin Bieber, and “Slide” by Calvin Harris.
