Finding a Home

Life has been pretty stressful lately.  In the midst of trying to find a wedding venue and secure a wedding date, we’ve also been dealing with trying to find a place to live.  We’re pretty unhappy in our current place and no matter how many times I put in work orders for things to be fixed in our apartment it never seems to get completed correctly.  Who caulks over current caulking?!

We just want something that we can call home.  I honestly don’t feel like our apartment is very homey and I can’t see us staying here for long-term.  I just want something we can be proud of and enjoy for years.  Shelling out money for a place I hate is getting old.

All in all this has been going on for months.  It’s not like one thing happened and I’m upset so I want to leave.  In all honesty, I like the community we live in.  I have enough grounds for running in the spring and have the ability to get a dog at some point if we wish.  There are dozens of apartment complexes in our area, but most don’t allow pets.

Basically, I’m tired of spending a huge portion of my paycheck to a place that doesn’t seem to be helping us in any way.  I’m not asking for luxury, but I do expect a washing machine to be fixed when it’s been smelling like eggs for weeks (no worries, our clothes are fine).

Time is running out, unfortunately, because we need to let our current landlord know if we are leaving by the end of this month.  If you have any suggestions for good places to live in the Philadelphia area, please shoot me over an email at kennedy.nicolem (at) gmail.com.

OK, rant over.  Normal posting will begin again tomorrow.  Had to get this out of my system.

Yikes. Wishing you nothing but the best in finding a new spot. It is the worst to be unhappy in your home.

Thanks Pavement Runner. It’s definitely frustrating. I hope we figure something out sooner rather than later!

surprising about the pets. we live in downtown miami which is nothing but condos and I swear everyone has a dog, which seems the least likely place on Earth they should be allowed since there is no green space!

Yeah! We don’t have a dog yet but in the near future I would like one. So finding a place that allows pets is a necessity.

Ugh, I’m sorry… that stinks! Chris and I lived in an apartment for a year and got frustrated with the lack of space/hominess and how much money we were shelling out essentially for nothing!

My sister lives in a nice apartment complex in Conshohocken but her 1 bedroom is SUPER tiny and kind of expensive! However, they DO allow dogs!

I am HATING apartment living. I’ve lived in an apartment since I was 18 years old. So many years of wasted money!

My sister just moved to an awesome & spacious apartment in Conshohocken!

Oh thats awesome! It’s a bit far for Bryan’s commute, but shoot me over an email and let me know where!

I hope you find a new awesome apartment soon! I’ve never lived in an apartment before but will experience that when Josh and I get married.

Yeah apartment living is terrible. It’s basically wasted money. So frustrating. If you find a nice place though it could be worth it, but it’s just so hard to save for a house when the majority of my paycheck goes to rent.

I’m in the same spot you are, Nicole! We’ve been paying so much each month for the 3 years we’ve been married, and for what? We don’t own anything! The maintenance guys are not the best, and the close neighbors are very annoying. We’re ready for a backyard, a dog, and nice neighborhood to jog around!

We’re starting our VA loan process this February, and our lease is up in June. I’m hoping everything runs smoothly. Good luck to you both as well! 🙂

It’s annoying, but I know that it’s not going to change anytime soon. Trying to make the best out of things as it is now.

we just moved into our new home…and really … lots… I wish we had rented!

oh no! Renting is the worst
