Don’t you LOVE cleaning the kitchen? Ha! Okay, it might not be your most favorite activity in the world, but you have to admit that a clean kitchen makes your whole home feel in order. For me, I love cooking, but it’s only therapeutic if I’m starting with a clean space. Bryan helps me out with this during the work week. I’ll call him on my way home and ask him to empty the sink and put away any clutter on the kitchen counters. It doesn’t take him very long, but it saves me time when I get home.

Today I’ve partnered up with Scotch-Brite™ Brand to give you tips on how you can clean your kitchen in 10 minutes or less!

1. Turn on Tunes (30 seconds)

Before you do ANYTHING, turn on your favorite playlist. This might be the most crucial task, and my absolute favorite. Even if you hate cleaning, listening to your favorite music will certainly lift your mood. I love songs that are upbeat and that I can sing along to while I’m cleaning.

2. Delegate Tasks (1 minute)

You can certainly clean your kitchen by yourself, but if you can enlist a roommate or significant other, definitely do so! Before we start cleaning, I’ll tell Bryan how he can help. If I’m washing the dishes, he’ll dry. While I’m wiping down the counters, he’ll unload the dishwasher. We take turns day to day, so we aren’t always stuck doing a task that we hate.

3. Load the Dishwasher or Wash by Hand (5 minutes)

The bulk of your time cleaning will be spent loading the dishwasher and/or washing dishes by hand. If you have a dishwasher, load that baby up with plates, cups, silverware, etc. Put a dishwasher pod in and turn it on! If you don’t have a dishwasher or have a lot of delicate items, it could take a bit longer to clean all of your dirty dishes, but you’ll be done in no time with the right cleaning supplies.

It’s no surprise that I buy all of my cleaning supplies from Target {along with everything else in my home}. Two items that I’ve been buying for years are blue and green Scotch-Brite™ brand sponges. The green ones are heavy duty and the blue ones are non-scratch. They both serve a purpose and help me get my kitchen looking Instagram perfect.

For tough messes, I use a Scotch-Brite® Heavy Duty Scrub Sponge. It cleans up oven racks, grill racks and caked on gunk 50% faster than other sponges. When it comes to non-stick pots and pans, I always use a Scotch-Brite® Non-Scratch Scrub Sponge. This sponge won’t ruin your expensive non-stick cookware and is also great for dishes and counter tops. These blue and green sponges are available in a dishwand too!

Scotch-Brite brand has coupons frequently, so next time you’re in Target check your Cartwheel app!

4. Clean out the sink (30 seconds)

After you’re done with the dishes, make sure to scrub down your sink. Don’t overlook this step! No one wants a spotless kitchen with a smelly sink. Run the garbage disposal and make sure all remnants of foods are completely gone.

We have a stainless steel sink that scratches easily, so I wipe it down using dish soap and a blue Scotch-Brite™ Brand sponge.

5. Wipe Down Counters and Appliances (1-2 minutes)

Next up are counters and appliances. If I’m being lazy and don’t want to clean the entire kitchen, I will ALWAYS at least wipe down the counters before bed. There is nothing more disgusting than touching a sticky counter top the next morning when you’re cooking breakfast. I’ll usually clean using a natural multi-surface spray. However if I run out, I’ll create a DIY cleaner using 1/2 teaspoon dish soap, 1 teaspoon baking soda and 2 cups warm water. It’s really quick to make and is just as effective as a store-bought cleaner.

6. Take Out Trash (1-2 minutes)

Throw out any remaining trash lying around your kitchen. Then, take out the trash. It’s nice to end your cleaning routine with an empty trash can!
