Adventures for Your Soul | Creating Your Best Life | Balancing in Heels | The Soul Searcher’s Handbook

My favorite type of book is non-fiction. I love taking out my highlighter and notebook and jotting down important tidbits to look back on. I really enjoy learning new ideas and getting a better understanding on how other people think. That being said, it’s no surprise that today I’m sharing four of my current favorite non-fiction books. These books are truly inspirational and I think they are great for every woman.

1. Adventures for Your Soul by Shannon Kaiser

After seeing Shannon’s book, Adventures for Your Soul pop up all over social media recently, I knew I had to see what all the hype was about. This book is one of those that I will read many times over the course of my life. It helps readers go through the process of figuring our their full potential. In every chapter, Shannon outlines a habit that might be hindering happiness, and provides numerous personal stories, quotes and insights throughout. It provides details on how to achieve your goals, remove limiting beliefs, live with purpose and passion, and make happiness your natural way of life.

I also really enjoy that the book is interactive. It has writing prompts in each chapter that make you think about the topics at hand.

2. Creating Your Best Life by C. Miller & M. Frisch

I’ve had Creating Your Best Life for many years now, and it’s always a book that I pick up and read time and time again. It discusses exactly what you think it would – ways to life your life to the fullest. I love that you can start reading at one point, put it down, and pick it up again at a later date.  Some books you might have to go back and re-read some key concepts to understand the rest of the book.  This one is different and I like that.  This book reminds me every time I pick it up to set goals for myself and to start working on reaching them today, not tomorrow.

One part of the book that really stands out to me is in chapter two. The authors talk about the “Big Four” which are qualities of happy people: optimism, self-confidence, extroversion and self-efficacy. Although I don’t believe in all four {introverts can be happy too!}, I think the overall message is there. Happy people tend to believe that they will experience better outcomes and resolve problems faster than people who think negatively. They have confidence that stems from a high self-regard, and they believe that they have the tools and willpower to get goals accomplished.

3. Balancing in Heels by Kristin Cavallari

I’ve always been a huge fan of Kristin Cavallari for being a reality TV bad girl.  However, after reading her book, Balancing in Heels, I see her in a totally different light. Her book gives insight on how she balances all roles in her life – from shoe designer, entrepreneur, TV star, mom and wife. Something you might not know about Kristin is that she’s really into holistic health. In her book, she shares her workout routine, style tips, and some amazing recipes that I can’t wait to try. For all you Laguna Beach and The Hills fans, Kristin also talks a little bit about her experience on those shows, and shares some personal photos from high school.

I also have to tell you really quickly about the photography in the book – it’s STUNNING. I read the book in one sitting {!!} and kept raving to Bryan about the images. Big props to her photographer! The book officially comes out on March 15, and I highly recommend you order a copy.

4. The Soul Searcher’s Handbook by Emma Mildon

Emma Mildon’s book The Soul Searcher’s Handbook is a must-have if you’re interested in learning more about spirituality. No, I’m not talking about prayers and going to church. Think crystals, yoga, aromatherapy, mantras and that type of thing. It’s basically a guidebook for people wanting to better their holistic and spiritual health, but are unsure of where to start.

I love that each time Emma mentions a type of holistic practice, she measures it on her Woo-Woo Scale {how hippy-dippy it is} and her Explore-It Scale {with 10 being ‘check this shit out RIGHT now’}. Emma is hilarious and you can tell from her writing that she is super passionate about holistic health, but she doesn’t take herself too seriously. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, you will be able to get something out of this book.
