When I brainstorm ideas for the blog, I make sure to include posts that I personally love reading on other blogs – one of those being morning routines. I’m not sure why I have this fascination with what people do in the mornings, but it probably stems from my childhood. When I was younger, I would wake up at an ungodly hour to watch Pappyland (the drawing TV show), and do a workout while watching Crunch Fitness. My mornings are a bit different these days, but more important than ever in making my whole day run as seamless as possible.
Let’s walk through my morning routine.
5:45am – My dog usually wakes me up between 5:30-5:45am to go to the bathroom. After he does his business, I sit in the living room and spend at least 15 minutes journaling and reading. The journal I’m using at the moment is called The Five-Minute Journal. I write in it in the morning and at night before bed. The journal prompts you to answer the same questions every day. The morning prompts include: I am Grateful For, What Would Make Today Great, and a Daily Affirmation. The nighttime prompts include: 3 Amazing Things That Happened Today and How Could I Have Make Today Better.
After I’m done journaling, I take ten minutes to read. Right now I’m reading “The Miracle Morning” by Hal Elrod (non-fiction) and “The Girl on the Train” by Paula Hawkins (fiction). Both are completely different and I like that. I’ve always been a huge fan of non-fiction books, but it’s been a goal of mine this year to get more into fiction. I’ll be sure to do a full review on both books when I’m done reading them.
6:10am: Bryan leaves for work around 6am, so after I say goodbye to him I do at least 20-30 minutes of yoga. I don’t have enough time in the mornings to go to a studio for a yoga class, so I make it work by practicing at home. I’m currently doing a 30 day yoga challenge and will post all about it next month. So far, daily yoga has really energized my mornings and makes me feel so accomplished. I usually follow along with Youtube videos, but other days I’ll do a self-guided practice. I shared my 5 favorite at-home yoga workouts in this post.
6:45am: After yoga, I open my editorial calendar and write down any blog post ideas that I stored in my notes app or email. I also use this time to make sure my blog post for the day went live, and schedule out social media posts.
7:00am: For the next 30 minutes, I get ready for the day. This includes washing my face, putting on makeup, doing my hair, ironing my clothes, getting dressed, and taking my probiotic.
7:30am: I make my breakfast and lunch. This usually includes fruit or gluten free bagel/waffles for breakfast and a mason jar salad for lunch.
7:35am: With the weather getting warmer, walking Pete in the morning is really enjoyable and provides some relaxation before having to head to work.
Thanks so much for reading my post today!

You have a weenie too! I just moved into a new apartment home and I feel like I need a schedule cleanse… I’m going to follow your guidelines as I create one. Thank you for a peek into your uber productive AMs. I think the earlier bird gets the worm so I’m working on getting up early (can I get my coffee extra strong please!) 🙂 Thanks again!
My mornings are definitely not always like that. That’s a REALLY GOOD day.
So productive! I started waking one hour earlier in the mornings and found that it made a huge difference in my mornings.
You are so productive in the mornings! I’m jealous!
