I enjoy going to coffee shops just as much as the next person, but my wallet isn’t always on board for that. So how do I get around my fancy coffee drink addiction? I make my own at home!
The good thing about making coffee at home is that you can control the coffee to water ratio. In my opinion, the bolder the better! There’s nothing I hate more than watery coffee. (Okay, there’s probably a list of things I dislike, but watery coffee is definitely near the top.) My favorite at-home cup of coffee is made using my French press and Lavazza’s Perfetto roast. It’s made from Arabica beans and has caramel notes. The beans were roasted longer to produce a characteristically Italian dark flavor.
- 6 tablespoons Lavazza Perfetto grounds (3 scoops)
- 8 cups water
- Splash of vanilla almond milk
- Sweetener (optional)
- Boil 8 cups water on stove
- Place 6 tablespoons of coffee grounds (3 scoops) into the bottom of the French press
- Fill the press with boiling water halfway
- Stir the grounds and water with a spoon
- Fill the press with the remaining boiling water, leaving an inch at the top
- Place the lid of the press back on, and turn the lid so it blocks the pour spout
- Don't lower the plunger!
- Let brew for 4-5 minutes
- Lower the plunger slowly to the bottom of the pot
- Turn the lid to open the spout, and pour
- Add a splash of vanilla almond milk and the sweetener of your choice
- *For extra hot coffee, warm the French press under hot water before adding coffee grounds.
