This past weekend, Bryan and I drove down to Maryland for a friend’s graduation ceremony. We left our apartment at 5am, which meant that I had to pack the night before and be ready to go bright and early.
So what did I do? I rounded up some of my favorite travel essentials and I was ready in like ten minutes. I didn’t pack everything listed below, since some of the things I only bring when flying. But rest assured, these 13 things are my tried and true travel favorites.
1. Kindle Paperwhite, stocked with my favorite books. Right now I’m reading Devil in the White City. It’s taking me a while to really get into it, and I’m not sure how I feel about it. Has anyone read this book? It’s supposedly a best seller!
2. Hand sanitizer, because I literally can’t deal with all the germs. If I’m in a plane, I’ll also carry WetWipes and wipe down the entire seat. Can’t be too careful.
3. Camera to capture all the memories.
4. iPhone + headphones, because Bryan hates when I listen to Youtube vids or podcasts when he’s trying to sleep. I’m currently using basic Apple ones, but I have my eye on these rose gold ones lately. I also love keeping my iPhone stocked with a playlist specific for whatever trip I’m on.
5. Passport & cover if traveling internationally.
6. Lip balm to keep my lips hydrated. Burt’s Bees is my current fav.
7. Peppermint oil & Advil, the perfect for headaches and I get them a lot. First I’ll try the peppermint oil, which usually helps for low to medium pain, but once the migraines come, I switch over to Advil. If anyone has other natural headache remedies, comment below!
8. Tums, because I have the worst stomach on the planet. I don’t go anywhere without them.
9. MacBook Pro, because I love catching up on blogging work any chance that I’ve got. I’m currently writing this post while driving home from my in-laws. {clarification: I’m not driving. I’m the passenger.}
10. Vans, the comfiest shoes to travel in. They slip on and off, which makes going through security a breeze. I have them in black, but I want to get them in white for the summer.
11. SmartWater, the only brand of water I like (aside from Pellegrino). And yes, water tastes different brand to brand.
12. Moisturizer to prevent the skin from cracking off my face. I’m not kidding. I have the driest skin in the world, and airplane air makes it even worse.
13. Snacks, because I’m constantly hungry. Grapes, carrot sticks, cashews and Flamin’ Hot Cheetos {of course} travel well.
