Pete’s Winter Jacket

Aside from today, the weather has been freezing. It’s been in the 30s practically every day for the past week. Taking Pete outside for walks in this weather has been a challenge, but I know he’s warm thanks to his new winter jacket from DoxandDane. Janae, the owner, was a joy to work with on this custom-made item. I told her Pete’s measurements and the fabrics I wanted.

His jacket has a black quilted nylon fabric on the outside, paw print fleece inside, velcro closures and a slit on the back for a harness hook. (Bryan forgot to put on Pete’s harness in the photo above, which is why the leash is hooked onto the collar. Don’t worry! We know a harness is super important for dachshunds’ backs.) 

I must have measured Pete wrong the first time I ordered his jacket, because it was a bit too long for him. You should have seen how uncomfortable he looked. I spoke with Janae and she was more than happy to remake it for Pete. I resent her more accurate measurements and the second jacket turned out perfectly! 

We love this jacket because it’s so easy to get on and off. Pete’s rather fidgety before going outside so we appreciate the ease of the velcro. Pete loves this jacket because it covers his whole chest. When Pete’s warm, Pete’s happy!
