Purse Emergency Kit

This week I decided to finally put together a purse emergency kit so I could be ready for anything life throws at me (Ahem, if life wants to throw a MacBook Pro at me, I won’t object.  I can catch…). I hope this inspires you to put together your own purse emergency kit, and if you do please comment below and let me know what items are in yours!

Purse Emergency Kit

I’m using a bag from Target to hold all the items in my emergency kit. It’s sold out, but here’s a cute alternative. I love this bag because it’s colorful and super easy to find if it’s at the bottom of my purse. Let’s take a look inside shall we.

Purse Emergency Kit

1. Hand sanitizer: I carry hand sanitizer with me always because sometimes you don’t have access to a sink to wash your hands. I use it way too much. I also keep a Bath and Body Works one at my desk in work so I can use it before I eat lunch.

2. Medication (Advil & Claritin): As I mentioned above, I’ve gone out too many times and had Bryan say “Crap! I forgot to take my Claritin this morning.” I’m slowly learning how to become a more prepared and organized wife, so keeping Claritin on hand is step one. I like keeping Advil in my bag as well. I think I purchased the ones pictured here from the Dollar Store, but recently refreshed them and bought these pill holders from Amazon.

3. Tea: It may seem strange to have a tea bag in my purse emergency kit, but hear me out. If I’m someplace where I have access to hot water, I’ll be able to make tea! I’m a huge tea drinker so I like having this on hand.

4. Lip Balm: My lips get so chapped in the winter so I must keep a lip balm with me at all times. The one I’m currently using is the EOS Lip Balm

5. Wet Ones: Bryan laughs at me for keeping these in my purse. But hey! When you need one, you need one! What happens if you’re drinking coffee and it spills on your hand and now your hand is sticky? You use a Wet One

6. Gum: I’m a gum hoarder. I generally have at least two different flavors with me at all times.

7. Hair ties & bobby pins: My hair gets stringy and greasy throughout the day, so I like having hair ties and bobby pins with me in case I need to throw it up in a quick top knot.

8. BandAids: I love the BandAid brand bandages. I’ve tried other store brands like Up and Up (Target) and CVS, but nothing is durable as BandAid.

9. Hot Hands: I hate being cold, so I love keeping a few Hot Hands nearby in case I’m out and need to slip a pack into my gloves to stay warm. I’m not a huge fan of this brand, but these will do for now until I find a better alternative.

10. Cough drops: I get sick a lot in the winter, and it’s usually cough and sore throat related. Usually when I have a nasty cough I can’t stop coughing, so it’s nice to have a few spare cough drops on hand.

I love this idea!
I’m going on a big holiday soon and definitely need something like this in my bag. It would help me Day-to-day as well. Thanks for the tips 🙂

Screws for eyeglasses with the tiny screwdriver

In my case a powder, a make-up and a lipstick are my essential add-on to your stated emergency kit above. You never know who you are going to meet along the way, so it is important to look your best all the time.

nitrile gloves
antibiotic ointment
sting relief pads
anti itch cream
coconut oil
small pen lite
small manicure scissors
2×2 guaze pads
tums
tylenol
advil
benedryl
credit card size magnifying sheet
tape measure
lipbalm stick hollowed out for mad money

yes I keep most of those things! Plus these-

Cotton tips (i wear makeup a lot)
cotton pads
travel sewing kit
extra safety pins
nail file
tampons
pads
condoms (you never know!)
tissues
emergency whistle
and tweezers (not sure why haha)
I want more ideas of things to add though :/

i would put pads(you never know)

Safety pins, kleenex packs, anti-nausea pills, travel sewing kit.

I am prepping an emergency kit for EACH of my handbags. I’m not organized enough when heading out the door to remember anything more than (hopefully) checking I have my wallet with me in my handbag, so multiple kits is essential.

Using a zip snack bag. Adding lipstick (I have too many of one color anyway) sample packets of moisturizer (one for face, one for body). Adding bandaids, Advil, will add Claritin (thank you for that). Hairpins and a band – but have you ever noticed that EVERY parking lot has one lying around? Wipes – baby and alcohol. Two tampons, one pad. Twist ties, safety pins, and a pick/floss thing. I always keep dental floss in my car, but there are times…you know! And $5. When I feel rich, I’ll replace those with $20’s.

I have a small knife on my keychain – it is meant for zippers on ski jackets, it is only an inch long and folds out to a 1/2 inch blade. No security has ever noticed this blade, I’ve flown with it, entered the courthouse, etc. It’s great for the impromptu picnic or need to open a bottle.

Some great ideas. I also include glycose tablets or candy for diabetics, and when traveling Clorox wipes for cleaning airplanes trays, etc. , plastic bag to use as a barf bag for the humans or litter bag for the dog.

I just update my first aid bag. I used to use hundred of ziplock a because I took a backpack to Disney. A beach bag for the beach. A separate bag for the park. Etc. and I would always use a new ziplock bag. But I found a small canvas first aid bag and put the epi pen, Benadryl, bandaids, itch cream, Advil, eye drops, bobby pins, hair ties, lip balm, pepto tablets. And I put that in whichever bag I am using that day.

All great stuff, I always also keep a few children’s melt away benedryl with ne. They are individually bubble packed and I have had to share with children or adults who start having an allergic reaction.

I absolutely love this idea! My husband forgets his allergy medication all the time and whenever I need my throat drops, I have none. I was thinking an emergency baby kit in my car would be good too for whenever I don’t have my daughter’s diaper bag with us.

I also keep a trial-size deodorant and an extra tampon.

I would add some facial tissues and travel hand lotion to that list as well. I keep tea, too. It can be hard to find sometimes. Great list!

It’s funny that men never have to carry this stuff around with them!

I have pretty much the same things in mine but I’m definitely adding tea! That’s a great idea. All my purse stuff is categorized into cosmetic bags. It makes everything easier.

all great things! i keep a million things in my purse / now diaper bag!
