Skincare for Dry Sensitive Skin

Murad sent me products to try out, but is not paying me to mention them.
I genuinely have found success in using the product, and want to share them with you.
As always, all opinions are my own. For more information see my disclosures here.

Oy, skincare. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while now, you know I’ve struggled to find a skincare regimen that worked for me. I have dry, sensitive, acne prone skin. Although my skin isn’t as bad as it once was, I still have to be careful with which products I use on my face. I’ve been using the products mentioned below for a few months now, and have seen great results.

I wash my face every night in the shower with the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser for all skin types (NOT the one for normal to oily skin). After trying the Clinique acne wash and numerous natural cleansers, I realized that I needed to use what worked for my skin back in the day – good ol’ Cetaphil. First, I put the cleanser on a washcloth and massage it on my face to remove my makeup. The washcloth works as a great exfoliant! Then, I add a bit to my hands and wash my face again. Trust me. I have dry skin and this doesn’t make it worse or make my face feel tight.

After my shower is the fun part!

1. Advanced Acne & Wrinkle Reducer

The first product I put on my face is an acne treatment. I used to use a prescription cream from my dermatologist, but it started to get annoying getting new refills and trying to find a coupon since it’s crazy expensive. For the past few months, I’ve been using Murad Anti-Aging Moisturizer, and I’ve seen great results. I rub it all over my face and neck and let it dry before adding the rest of the products mentioned in this post. Note: This isn’t necessarily a spot treatment, so if you have a huge breakout, you might want to use a product with a higher dose of salicylic acid (this one only has .5%).

The treatment is also supposed to defend against early signs of aging and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I don’t notice any change in that department just yet, but as a late twenty-something, it doesn’t hurt to start adding these types of products into my daily routine.

2. Renewing Eye Cream

I’ll be honest. Up until a few months ago, I never used an eye cream. I would use plain old moisturizer all over my face. In the cooler months, my under-eye area gets super dry – lots of cracking and redness! Eek. I’m cringing just thinking about it. This year, I’ve decided to start using a designated eye cream. I’ve been using the Renewing Eye Cream from Murad and really like it. It’s pretty expensive ($80), but Amazon has it for around $40. Not only does the cream feel amazing on my skin, but it also lives up to all the marketing hype. It truly does firm, brighten and hydrate the eye area, while reducing dark circles and puffiness. It’s a lifesaver when I haven’t had enough sleep!

3. Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum

Since I have a lot of dark spots due to acne scars and sun damage, I’ve tried a few different treatments on the market. NOTHING, I repeat nothing, has helped my scarring as much as the Murad Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum. If you have dark spots you want to get rid of, you have to get this product. I’ve been using it every night for a few months now, and already have seen drastic results.

4. Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF30 for Blemish Prone Skin

Since my skin is dry all year round, I’m very consistent with wearing moisturizer. There’s not a day that goes by that it’s not on my face However, I almost never also add a sunscreen on top (Bad! I know.)  Since it’s beyond important to protect your skin from the sun every day, including in the winter, I’ve started using a moisturizer with built-in SPF. I’ve been trying out Murad’s Anti-Aging Moisturizer . It doesn’t irritate my skin, and I love how it absorbs quickly.
