Good morning readers. For those of you who ran the NYC Marathon, CONGRATS! I watched the live stream on my computer from ESPN2 and was tearing up watching Deba get defeated in the last 6 miles. The race definitely had me motivated to start running again, but more on that later this week.
On Saturday, I didn’t do too much. I had to clean up the apartment. You know, do the dishes, clean the counters. That kind of stuff. Nothing too interesting. After that was all done, I relaxed for the majority of the day. I did lounge around in my new Criss-Cross Chaturanga tights from Athleta. They sent me a pair to test out and I was surprised that they arrived so soon. I wasn’t expecting them until this week, but FedEx dropped them off on Friday. I am in LOVE with these pants. They are actually more like thicker tights, but boy are they warm!
A random fact about Saturday, it was the 6 month mark until our wedding. CRAZY. Where did the time go?! I have a free countdown app downloaded on my iPhone so whenever I hit benchmarks it sends me a notification. So much to do still in the planning of the wedding. Every time I think of the massive to-do list, I get a headache. I have a to-do list book actually that I bought from Barnes and Noble when I first got engaged, but I think this week I’m going to write out a to-do list for myself. There are so many extraneous things that we aren’t doing that it makes more sense to make my own personalized list.
On Sunday morning, our alarm went off at 4AM. Yep, 4AM. I’m not even sure the last time I was up at that hour. We were up because we registered to volunteer at the Race for Hope in Philly. You may remember that the Race for Hope was actually my first ever 5K back in 2011. I fell in love with racing after that and since then, Bryan and I have decided to take part in that race every year. So in 2011, I ran it and my sister and Bryan walked. In 2012, Bryan and I signed up to run the race, but when we got into the city we couldn’t find parking anywhere remotely close to the start of the race so we came home. This year, we signed up as volunteers for set-up which is why our alarm had us up in the middle of the night.
I of course dressed like a ninja in order to stay warm. Under Armor, oh how I love you.
We were part of the set-up crew which meant we had to help with getting the inside of the registration tent all ready for the day. This included putting on table cloths, setting up each table with highlighters and registration name sheets, unboxing hats, etc.
We were both super exhausted, so we didn’t stay for the race itself. We decided to jet home once our set-up volunteer work was completed. This photo was taken as we were leaving the race as it was getting light outside. Haha there’s Bryan’s head in the left hand side of the picture .
After a short nap, I turned on the NYC Marathon live stream on ESPN2 on my laptop. I was so into the race! Afterwards, I even watched the documentary The Spirit of the Marathon on Netflix. So so good. If you haven’t seen it yet I highly recommend it.
For dinner, I was starving so I ate a massive salad basically the size of my head. Inside this huge mixing bowl I ate out of was: lettuce, croutons, falafel, avocado, and grape tomatoes. I didn’t do a great job mixing the contents up before snapping this photo, but I promise you there was substance in the salad other than croutons and lettuce.
I’ve been loving lately this amazing combo: hot tea and raspberries. I’ve had it many times over the past week. I usually have it after a hot shower right before I go to bed.

Hey there! I love these tights!!! I have a blog too. how do I request Athleta for a product review?

Who makes athleta? I feel like I’ve heard that brand name before haha. I’ve been thinking about volunteering at a race, it just sounds like so much fun to me!! I haven’t had hot tea in forever, I need to change this asap. I just got some homework done, and then had a 5 hour skype date with the boyfriend 🙂 Have a lovely Monday 🙂
