Weekend Recap (9/22- 9/23)

Monday creeps up on us again, folks.  Before I recap my weekend, I want to talk about my long run from this weekend.  I’m glad I did it on Saturday morning, because Sunday was great for some R&R.

7 Miles

Somehow this past Saturday I conquered 7 miles on the treadmill.  If you would have told me a year ago that I would be running for over an hour on the treadmill, I would have thought you were joking.  I used to loathe the treadmill, but lately it hasn’t been too terrible.

The weather here in the Philly area hasn’t completely cooled down yet, so I’ve resorted to the treadmill.  Nonetheless, the run happened, and I wrote about it on DailyMile to make it official. Oh, and I posted it on Facebook too.  Now it’s really official.

7miles

So, how did I get through this run?

I watched a whole episode of this:

Keeping-Up-With-The-Kardashians

Said a lot of mantras in my head:

And took some walking breaks:

This looks just like me, I know.  I had blonde curly hair on Saturday.

Anyway, the run happened and I’m really happy I had the courage to go to the gym, hop on the treadmill and make it through these miles.  It wasn’t easy.  I had a lot of side cramps during the early miles, but I pushed through and tried to think about how happy I would be after finishing.

Sunday

On Sunday, Bryan and I went to Chestnut Hill to walk around and check out some of the shops.  We’ve never been there before, and I was interested in some of the local coffee stores.  I drove through Chestnut Hill the other day and knew I would enjoy visiting.

Chestnut Hill is technically part of Philadelphia, but it doesn’t feel that way.  If you’ve ever been to Chestnut Hill you know that it feels like a village.  There are many mom & pop shops and you can find anything from coffee to pet supplies to doctor’s offices.

Bry and I went into a coffee shop for iced coffee and I was sort of confused when we were given a cup full of brown iced cubes—no coffee.  They were coffee flavored ice cubes!  We then obviously poured hot coffee over them, but it was great because sometimes iced coffee can get watery.  Not this kind!

Last but certainly not least, I saw this ADORABLE sign in a pet supply and grooming shop.  It was meant to be.  Someone please buy me a doxie soon.

I can’t believe you’ve never been to Chestnut Hill!! Rob and I used to love visiting there when we lived in Manayunk. I used to walk alot of dogs down there too!!! There are so many great restaurants and shops! I also heard about a yoga studio down there that I’ve heard really good things about!

Yeah! There must be a yoga studio someplace, because we saw a lot of people with yoga mats. LOL

I watched some keeping up with the kardashians today on my day off. its so addicting! I have never been to chestnut hill! I will have to go!

I can’t believe you’re doing these runs on the treadmill!! I’d die of boredom! I would much rather heat/freeze to death. haha. But I guess that’s where we differ. Regardless, congrats on pushing through. I’m all about the mantras too. And passing time doing math in my head — how many miles to go, percentage of distance done/left to do, pace calculations. Oh, and I may or may not mentally write blog posts while running .. #noshame.
My whole weekend was devoted to running my half-marathon. Definitely an amazing way to spend a weekend — prepping, running, resting/recuperating! 🙂

7 miles on the treadmill is SUCH an accomplishment. Nice work!

I really want to head to philly someday. It sounds like a blast.

Woohoo for completing 7 miles!!!

I’ve never been to Chestnut Hill, but it looks like a cute area!

Hey Erica, Yea its really cute. I loved the atmosphere. Did not feel like Philly at all!
