What’s in My Medicine Cabinet

Today I’m giving you guys a look into my medicine cabinet. I’m a huge snoop. I love knowing what products people are using and loving, so I thought this would be a fun and interesting post.

A few months ago, I cleaned out my medicine cabinet and got rid of products that I hated or that had expired. I made sure that I only kept the best of the best when I was re-organizing the cabinet. I guess I figured out a system that works for me, because my medicine cabinet STILL is super organized! Let’s take a look.

Top Shelf:

1. Q-Tips: I hate searching through drawers in our bathroom to find small items like Q-Tips, so I keep them in a small jar on the top shelf of my medicine cabinet. I use these to apply the blemish spot treatment that I’ll mention later.

2. Clinique Acne Solutions Face Wash: I’ve been loving this face wash again. It doesn’t dry out my skin and seems to keep my breakouts under control. The only negative I can say about it is that it’s a bit expensive, and I go through it pretty quickly. I keep one bottle in the shower and one bottle in the medicine cabinet of our second bathroom. That way, I always have it nearby. I go back and forth between this face wash and a more gentle one by Cetaphil

3. DIY Toner: This is a mixture of apple cider vinegar, water and tea tree oil, which works wonders for breakouts. It calms everything down and helps with redness. I definitely don’t use it a lot, but I like to keep it on hand for times when my skin needs some extra TLC.

4. Eucalyptus Oil: I purchased this oil to create a DIY yoga mat cleaner. It smells really good and has a variety of uses: antiseptic, insect repellent, and treatment for wounds and burns.

5. Tea Tree Oil: As mentioned above, I use this as part of the DIY toner. Sometimes if traditional topical medicine won’t work, I’ll apply a few drops to a cotton pad and apply directly to the breakout. It works wonders my friends.

6. Peppermint Oil: I LOVE the smell of peppermint. I apply it directly on my wrists if I’m feeling a bit anxious. It can be also used to relieve headaches, improve mental focus, clear sinuses, boost energy and release tight muscles.

7. Oil of Oregano: Haha, the other oils I mentioned have a pleasant smell. This one, not so much. I use it primarily when I’m sick. I place a few drops of the oil in a pot of steaming water and then inhale the steam. It helps SO much as a decongestant.

Middle Shelf:

8. Mario Badescu Drying Lotion: If you read my post about the best acne spot treatment EVERRR, you know that I’m obsessed with this product. No need to explain it all here. Go read that post.

9. Tom’s Toothpaste: A few years ago, I started integrating more natural products in my routine. One of the first things I switched over was toothpaste. Tom’s has no artificial colors, flavors, fragrances, preservatives or animal ingredients. AND, they don’t test on animals. My favorite kind is their Whole Care peppermint with fluoride.

10. Murad Hydro-Dynamic Eye Cream: I’ll be honest, I’ve only used this eye cream a few times. I keep it in my medicine cabinet so I remember to use it. I sometimes forget I have it actually! It doesn’t really do anything special for me except hydrate, so I tend to reach for my wrinkle cream which I’ll mention below.

Bottom Shelf:

11. Vaseline Advanced Repair Lotion: I don’t remember how I got this sample, but I really like it. It’s not a natural product by any means, but I like to use it on my legs after shaving because It’s super hydrating. It’s also unscented, so I can use it right before bed without it bothering Bryan.

12. Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Remover: I can’t even tell you how many bottles of this stuff I’ve purchased over the years. It’s on the expensive side, but it works. It’s dermatologist-developed and helps improve the appearance and evenness of skin tone by 53%. I’d say it works even better than that. It reduces dark spots, age spots and acne scars. I switch off between this and the Murad version, which I’ll talk about in a minute.

13. Kiss My Face Deodorant: I used to be a Dove stick deodorant girl my whole life, until I realized all the crappy chemicals that was in it. Most deodorants are filled with parabens and aluminum which plug sweat ducts and temporarily stop of flow of sweat. Sounds good, but these chemicals can also be absorbed by your skin. So, around the same time I switched my toothpaste, I also started testing out new deodorants. I tried a few bad ones before I came across this one from Kiss My Face. OMG, it’s the bomb (dot) com. It’s a liquid roll-on, which takes time to get used to if you’re currently using a stick, but trust me it’s worth it. It’s aluminum and paraben free, and works just as well as any other deodorant!

14. Murad Intensive Wrinkle Reducer: I wish I started using a wrinkle cream in my early 20s, because now that I’m in my late 20s I am certainly seeing some crows feet develop. UGH. This eye cream helps keep them at bay and is really hydrating. I haven’t been using it that long to say my fine lines are completely gone, but I haven’t seen any new wrinkles come about.

15. Murad Rapid Age Spot Lightening Serum: As I mentioned above, I switch between this product and Clinique’s version. I can’t say that one works drastically better than the other, but they both work AMAZINGLY. I use a least one of them every single night. I bring a lightening serum every time I travel, because I legit can’t live without it. I have a lot of dark spots from acne scarring and sun damage, so these products help lighten them up and eventually erase them.

16. Murad Intensive C Radiance Peel: Another product I use almost every day is this mask. Ask Bryan, he’ll tell you! After my shower, I’ll slather on this mask. It’s super lightweight and doesn’t feel like it’s doing much, but it is! I keep it on for hours and eventually will rinse it over before bed. It smells like oranges, helps brighten my skin, smooths out any texture, and reduces hyper-pigmentation. On days that I’m not using this mask, I love this clay mask!

Maybe doing a post like this would give me a reason to clean out my medicine cabinet so that it looks remotely like this. Very cool, always interesting to see a little bit more into people’s lives. And I really like the q-tips in the jar thing, so much easier.
