my favorite hair care products

Ahhh hair care. I can talk about hair care for hours. Thankfully for you, I edited this post down to include my absolute favorite products. Some of these I’ve used for years and others I bought more recently since coloring my hair.

Before we talk about products, you should probably know the type of hair I have. It’s thin, flat, and colored a month ago with a blonde balayage treatment. I have to be careful what I use, because it’s easy for my hair to get weighed down.

First we’ll talk about shower staples and then get into styling products. Although the shampoo and conditioner are meant for lightened or highlighted hair, the other products can be used on most hair types. If you have any questions, comment below or send me a DM

Kerastase Scrub Apaisant

I’ve been seeing hair scrubs all over the internet recently, so I was influenced to try one out for myself. I picked up the Kerastase Scrub Apaisant and can honestly say it’s worth the money. Its ingredients include jojoba beads and sweet orange peel, which helps to remove dead skin cells while providing such a nice scent in the shower. I use this once a week on wet hair before shampoo and conditioner. It leaves my scalp really moisturized (but not greasy) and makes my hair so incredibly soft.

Kerastase Blond Absolut Bain Lumiere Shampoo

When I went lighter, Zoe my hair stylist told me I definitely shouldn’t be using my normal shampoo and conditioner if I wanted to keep the blonde looking good. For shampoo, she recommended Blond Absolut Bain Lumiere from Kerastase. It illuminates and hydrates the blonde and keeps it from turning an ugly brassy color.

Kerastase Blond Absolut Circaflash Conditioner

For conditioner, Zoe recommended Blond Absolut Circaflash from Kerastase. It’s in the same line as the shampoo so it pairs well. They both smell amazing and the scents don’t compete with each other. The conditioner strengthens the hair fibers and protects from breakage, while also restoring the blonde shade after each wash. I’m picky with conditioners and this one is a favorite. It doesn’t weigh down my fine hair.

Kevin Murphy Body Mass Leave-in Plumping Treatment

Before blow drying, I spray Kevin Murphy’s Body Mass Leave-in Plumping Treatment on my damp hair while concentrating on the roots and scalp. It strengthens my hair, gives it a bit of body, and leaves it really silky smooth. It also doubles as a heat protectant.

Kevin Murphy Doo Over Dry Powder Hairspray

If you consider buying any new hair product, please do yourself a favor and make it Kevin Murphy’s Doo Over. I’ve used this for years now and continue to buy it over and over again. It’s my all-time favorite/can’t live without it product. After curling my hair, I lift up sections of hair and spray Doo Over at the roots. It holds my curls in place and provides a TON of volume. I always notice a huge difference before and after using it. It really gives my curls a “lived-in” look.

Kevin Murphy Fresh Hair Dry Spray

I’ve wasted so much money over the years trying different dry shampoos. Why must they all leave a gross residue?! Someone recommended that I try Kevin Murphy’s Fresh Hair last year and it’s been in my bathroom ever since. I use it midday to give my hair a refresh if necessary. It removes excess oils and brings my hair back to life. It has a very fresh/clean scent, almost like baby powder.
