Friday Favorites

Happy Friday everyone! This week went by pretty fast. I didn’t have any appointments after work this week, so I was able to come home and get a lot of stuff done on the blog. I’m learning a bunch about SEO and organic ways to get my site out to a larger audience. Very exciting stuff to come!

In the meantime, let’s get into my Friday Favorites for this week.

Disco Rollerskating

1. Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone. Last weekend, Bryan and I joined up with some friends for a rollerskating night in celebration of Bryan’s birthday. The theme was 70’s disco. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t thrilled when I first heard about the event. Especially since the themed night was developed by my friends, not by the skating rink. I had horror stories running through my head such as getting laughed at because of my outfit, and people tripping us because we were the only ones in strange clothes. Completely irrational, I know. To my surprise, I ended up having a blast! The table next to ours was also dressed up in a theme. They did the 80’s! While we were skating around, I kept telling Bryan how much fun I was having. No one said anything negative about our costumes, and one guy even went up to Bryan and some of the guys we were with, and asked to take a selfie together! The night was a huge success.

Egg Whites and Couscous

2. Random Thrown Together Dinners. We really need to go food shopping. We’re almost out of everything in our fridge, freezer and pantry. Because of this, we had to improvise a lot this week. One dinner that I was really satisfied with was pearled lemon and herb couscous with roasted corn, egg whites and hot sauce. It’s not something that I would have thought about putting together, but it was so yummy and will certainly become a staple at our house. Bryan had his with a couple sunny side up eggs instead of the egg whites, so that works just as well.

Snow Day

3. Snow Days. Another favorite this week was having a snow day yesterday. Since my office rarely closes because of snow, I was thrilled when I heard they were closed for the day. Even though I now have a crossover vehicle, I still hate driving in the snow and ice. Nothing is more exciting than working in pajamas on the couch. {Yes, I have a home office but it’s still a work in progress and I’m trying to make it as homey as possible. It still needs a few things.}

Gallery Wall Art

4. New Artwork For Our Gallery Wall. We’ve had a gallery wall in our apartment for years now, and even had one in our old apartment. I love the look of gallery walls and the option to constantly refresh the art without having to spend a lot of money. Since we’ve had the same artwork for at least two years, I decided it was time for an update. That’s when I found the Elle & Company Library, a printable database filled with art prints, greeting cards and even a 2015 planner. For just $6.99 a month, subscribers have unlimited access to the 50+ design files in the library. The owner, Lauren, was gracious enough to give me a free subscription so I could check out everything she had to offer. For our gallery wall, I printed out the “R” floral design {obviously for my last name} and I think it looks amazing! The files were so easy to access and print, and I plan to print out a few more of Lauren’s artwork for other places in our home.

Thanks so much for reading my post today!
