October Goals

Good morning everyone!  I turned on the news this morning and every news story seemed to be positive.  There usually is something about a robbery, a child getting bullied, or a drug deal gone wrong.  This morning there seemed to be happy stories.  One being that it’s about that time for the White House Christmas Tree to be found!

Talking about the White House, Bry and I are going to DC this weekend for a White House tour!  I’m very excited because although I’ve been outside the White House, I’ve never been about to take a tour.  Washington DC is my happy place.  I first visited DC with a friend of mine back in college after going through a bad breakup.  It was just a magical place.  I remember falling in love with the Washington Monument and running around the fountains!

DC is actually the place Bry and I took our first photo together Smile We look so young!

In other news, my knee feels a lot better than it did on Monday!  I can’t believe I’m so excited, but I thought that my 8 miler on Saturday would leave me couch-bound for a week.  Lucky for me it must have just been too much pressure on the treadmill.

After going over my September goals, I realized that I want to make my October goals something that are a less rigid.  My goals in the past have been so specific that I don’t complete them, and get mad when I have to type “not completed” or “partially completed” in my recap post.  That being said, here are my goals for October.

Personal

  • Take a walk outside at least 1x a week.
  • Dedicate a few moments every week to stretch and foam roll.
  • Paint my nails every Sunday to prohibit nail picking later in the week.

Fitness

Blogging

  • Upload a new banner.  (Been trying to get this done since August)
  • Increase use of and Instagram for promotion of blog posts.
  • Do at least 1 What I Ate Wednesday (WIAW).

Talk to Me

I am jealous, I want to go on a White House tour! Have fun and enjoy it!

i love the white house christmas tree. I want to go to washington dc one christmas to see it. the show there is always so beautiful!

A tour of the white house sounds like so much fun!

I’m so excited! I’m not going to see the first lady or anything, but still super fun!

if you’re looking for someone to design a banner with, i’d love to help! (for fun, not for any charge!) 🙂

Thanks lady! I’m looking forward to working on this with you!

Foam rolling is super awesome, I’ve been working on doing that more too. Good luck with yr half training, my first is in November!

Thanks, Kat. I love foam rolling. It makes me feel terrible while I’m doing it, but afterwards my muscles love me.

I definitely made more “abstract” goals for October — I wanted to have more focuses rather than goals, and for much the same reason as you (I feel the pressure of “goals” and “failure” gets to me sometimes).
I’ve never been to DC, but I live in the capital city of Canada and think that it would be super fun to do a “from one capital to another” trip. 🙂
Have fun!! And best of luck with your goals.

Haha i think i got that idea about the goals from your comment in my last post! thanks!

I’ve actually never been to Canada. What’s it like? Have you ever been to the US?

No worries!! It’s definitely the way to rock goals from time to time. Sure, it can be great if you have specific points to accomplish to make them into goals, but setting good habits for a lifetime in motion can be just as great! 🙂
Canada is very, very much like the States with regards to weather and habits (for the most part) — well, at least in the more populated southern areas, very few people live up north (no wonder why! haha). Where I live, we’re pretty much on par with the weather from New York State. Our big cities are a bit smaller and our smaller towns are a bit more spread apart, but the scenery is just as great. Tonnes of green space. I love it a lot. 🙂
I’ve been to the States a few times (rowing trips to New York State and Boston and a Florida training camp; a motorcycle trip through some north-eastern states — Maine, New Hampshire, etc; and to Disney twice by plane!) — I enjoy it, I’ll definitely be visting more.

As a DC native (well, accross the river in Alexandria, Va.) I have to agree that it is a great city! I haven’t been inside the White House for decades. I wonder if they will let you take pictures? 😉

I’m going to guess that they won’t, unfortunately. I love the DC area. I can’t wait to make an agenda for the day!
