I was going to do another post on the Runner’s World Half Festival this morning, but I didn’t run yesterday and wear my new gear so I didn’t have any photos of me to use!  Good thing I’ll be heading to the gym tonight and wearing some awesome clothes.  If you’re interested… you can catch up on my past two recaps.

Ten Running Questions Answered

I saw this survey over at Miles with Style and knew it would be a perfect way to break up my Runner’s World posts.  I hope you all aren’t getting bored with me because there’s at least 2 more recap posts coming!  It’ll be fun though. I have great clothes to show you, recovery items, and more!  It really was an amazing time.

1. Best run ever?

  • The best non-race run I ever went on was sometime last year when I ran in the snow.  I know it sounds absolutely nutty, but I love running in cold weather.  I’m not sure why.  Something about the pretty scenery around me and attempting to run around snow piles was a lot of fun!  The best race I’ve ever run had to be the   I know I keep talking about it, but the race itself was gorgeous!  It was the longest race I’ve done yet and I had a lot of time to think.

2. Three words that describe your running?

  • Stress free, (sometimes) powerful, dynamic

3. Your go-to running outfit?

  • In the colder months I wear my base layers almost during every run – UnderArmour tights and turtleneck.  Right now while the weather is almost perfect, I tend to reach for my capris and a t-shirt or tank.  Nothing too fancy.

4. Quirky habit while running?

  • If I’m running outside If I’m feeling sluggish I make a game out of it.  For instance I’ll think to myself, “If I get to that tree, I can slow my pace a bit.”  This makes me sprint to that location and then slow down.  It makes it fun while still being smart about it.

5. Morning, midday, evening?

  • If it’s the weekend, I like my runs in the morning.  During the week lately I haven’t been able to get the time in the morning to run, so I’ve been doing evening runs instead.

6. I won’t run outside when it’s…

  • During thunderstorms.  Nope.  Not happening.

7. Worst injury—and how you got over it.

  • This one time I really injured my calf.  I still don’t know if it was from a run or a new Zumba class, but it hurt SO SO bad.  I even took off from work one day because it hurt to put pressure on my foot to drive.  How I got over it?  Light foam rolling and RICE– rest, ice, compression, and elevation.

8. I felt most like a badass runner when…

  • I run uphill.  IDK something about pushing as hard as I can to make it up a hill always feels so rewarding.  Another time I feel like a badass running is when I’m coming through the finish chute at a race.  I always feel so powerful when I’m about to finish a race; no matter how tough the race or how terrible I felt during it.

9. Next race is…

Race for Hope Philadelphia

  • .  Ironically, this was the first race I’d ever done.  I registered last year in memory of my mother’s battle with brain cancer, and decided that I would be running this every year no matter what.

10. Potential running goal for 2013?

  • I’m not sure yet, but I MAY want to run a marathon.  This depends on how the half goes.  If I make it out strong I might do it, but whatever happens I’ll be registering for more half marathons next year.

I do the same thing with setting a goal during my run! It helps to keep me entertained as well as give me a break every now and then.

Did you ever figure out what the calf pain was? That is such a random ache. You are going to rock your half, I’m already excited to read about the recaps!

No i didn’t. I think it was from zumba lol. the teacher was terrible and she didn’t know what she was doing.

I’m super nervous for it actually. haven’t been really following my training plan at all, which sucks. but hopefully i’ll be alright.

I prefer running in the morning – otherwise I make too many excuses on why to bail!

I used to love running in the mornings! I need to get back to the gym in the mornings and blogging at night. I usually get up early to blog, but I need to rearrange that now!
