Vienna's Nursery Reveal

I photographed Vienna’s nursery shortly after she was born, but I hadn’t had time until now to share it with all of you. Even now, I’m sure she’ll wake up from her morning nap and I’ll have to come back to writing this. You know, #MomLife.

Vienna’s room is constantly evolving and is a work in progress, so I can’t say that it’s 100% complete. I like adding little things here and there as time goes on. For instance, just the other day I framed a pretty card that we got from a family member. It was too cute to throw away! As you’ll see from the photos, the walls are bare for the most part. I couldn’t decide on any large piece of art, so I hope to add family photos after we get some taken this summer.

Vienna doesn’t sleep in her nursery yet, since she’s still in her bassinet in our room. However, we still get a lot of use out of her nursery. We use this space for play time, story time, and diaper changes. It’s nice to have a separate area in our apartment for these things that’s a bit more private and quiet.

The first piece of furniture that we chose for Vienna’s nursery was her crib. I wanted something more unique than the typical wooden cribs that you see everywhere. That’s why I picked out this GORGEOUS iron one from Bratt Decor in the color pewter. It’s the perfect statement piece for the room and it balances out the rest of the wooden furniture we have. The crib converts to a toddler bed so I know we’ll have it for a while.

Most of the other larger pieces in the nursery, including the changing table and rocker, came from Pottery Barn Kids. Yes, they were a bit pricey but PBK always runs sales. Never pay full price! I think of these items as investments because just like the crib, Vienna will have these as she gets older. The changing table topper can be removed and the piece can be used strictly as a dresser.

Let’s talk decor. For home stuff in general, I like things to have a purpose or some sentimental value. Knickknacks just aren’t my jam. When pulling together ideas for Vienna’s nursery, I knew right away that I wanted to incorporate the memory of some important people in my and Bryan’s life. With the help of a couple friends {hi Kate and Linda!}, I blew up individual words that my mom, grandmom and Bryan’s grandmom had written in cards and letters, put them on a pretty watercolor background, and framed them.

Every time I walk into the nursery, it makes me smile to see these words and I feel like these women are looking down on us. When Vienna gets a little older, the art will be great discussion pieces. I plan to show her photos of her grandmom and great grandmoms and make sure she knows just how special they were.

I love how this all turned out, and that crib is BEAUTIFUL. Glad I could help you out!! <3

OMG, the words your mom and grandmothers wrote! Melts my heart, and I absolutely love that idea!

🙂 Thanks girl! It’s my favorite part of the whole room.

Cute! Simple yet very pretty!!

Thanks girl. I hate clutter so I kept the decor to a minimum. When she becomes a toddler and has more toys than I know what to do with all things will change haha.
