Weekend Recap (6/22- 6/23)

June 24, 2013

Good morning, friends.  It’s Monday and I’m just happy that it’s not a torrential downpour yet.  We’re supposed to have cloudy/rainy weather all week, so I’m happy my Monday morning didn’t start off that way.

This weekend, Bryan and I did so much stuff.  We did however get to take a couple of naps in the midst of all the moving around we did this weekend!  Here’s a look into what I did this weekend.

Saturday

On Saturday morning, we woke up early and had breakfast at a nearby hotel.  Bryan’s grandmom was staying overnight and bought us breakfast passes so we could enjoy the huge buffet they have.

After breakfast, we stopped at a farmer’s market not too far from our house.  I forgot to take pictures while we were there, but it was super humid outside and we didn’t stay too long.  I did pick up a delicious loaf of sourdough bread and a huge head of romaine lettuce.

We spent a few hours on Saturday afternoon by the pool.  I finally started using my Nook and downloaded the free version of “The Alchemist.”  I obviously ended up buying the full version because the book is amazing.  I can’t wait to read what happens next.  I’m already highlighting different quotes throughout.  By the way – I had no idea you could highlight on a Nook.  Awesome.

Once we were exhausted from the sun, we came home and got ready to head out for our night out on the New Hope Grapevine Express.  I won two free tickets at a bridal show I was at a few months ago, and Bryan and I had a really nice time.  We tried two different wines each and had a huge platter of fruit, crackers and cheese.

During the train ride, the conductor gave us some random bits of history as we rode through Bucks County, Pa.  For instance, the movie series Perils of Pauline (film from a LONG time ago) was filmed on the train tracks we were riding on.  So neat.

Sunday

After the train ride, we went over to Bryan’s parent’s house for the night.  We watched Total Recall, sat in the hot tub for about an hour, and then went to bed.  I was exhausted!

On Sunday, we woke up early, had coffee then went to the hotel breakfast again.  Of course it was delicious again.  This time instead of a sweet breakfast, I opted for an egg white omelet with tomatoes and peppers, a huge bowl of fruit and a small side of potatoes, peppers, and onions.

We laid by the pool for a little bit on Sunday, but didn’t stay out too long.  It was just too hot out.  Instead, I did some food shopping.  I always like food shopping once I already ate a meal because then I’m not buying everything I see.  When I got home, I was so surprised because it wasn’t event noon yet!

After putting the groceries away, we napped. Very much needed.

On Sunday night, we picked up Bryan’s grandmom from her hotel and drove her back home.  She treated us to dinner at a seafood restaurant near her house.  As always, it was great!  Nice to spend some time with her.  She always has the funniest stories.

A yummy breakfast out two days in a row?! I’m jealous!

YES! two days in a row. We definitely had a great weekend for food. Now I’m detoxing b/c of all the stuff I ate this weekend haha. Lots of juices this week 🙂

I love the fruit they put out for hotel breakfast, they are always good! The name of that book just sounds interesting, what’s it about? I would love to just calm my nerves for this speech class I’m taking, and of course spend as much time as possible with my bf before he leaves. I usually see my family anywhere from once a month to guaranteed at the holidays. It’s great you got to see Bryan’s grandma (grandma-in-law?)!

Chelsea, I haven’t gotten too deep into the book yet, but I know I’ll talk about it more in depth here on the blog when I’m finished it.

Ya, it’s nice that we get to see his family quite often! His grandmom is so funny sometimes.
