Weekend Recap (9/29 – 9/30)

Saturday

On Saturday morning, I had to wake up normal time for work at 5:30 to start making media calls.  There was an event on Saturday afternoon that I’d been pitching to reporters for almost two weeks and I had to get up early to try and finalize TV coverage.

At around 3 or so, Bry and I went to the gym in hopes that I’d get my long run done.  But as you can see from the blurry photo, only 3 miles were completed.  By mile 2, I started getting the worst headache.  I told Bryan that it felt like a hangover headache when you know you have to throw up.  However, I didn’t drink on Friday night so I knew it wasn’t that.  I blame it on dehydration.

After coming home from the gym, I had leftovers for lunch and drank a lot of water to rehydrate.  After taking a brief nap on the couch, we decided to get ready for our date night.

On the agenda was a trip to the Apple Store to get my iPhone fixed and Perks of Being a Wallflower at a nearby movie theater.  My iPhone still isn’t fixed by the way, but I have an appointment this week with an Apple Genius.  Since downloading iOS6 onto my iPhone 4, I can’t download any new applications.  I’m able to update the applications I already have on my phone, but when I go into the Apple Store and try to download new ones, the screen just refreshes and the download never starts.

Perks of Being a Wallflower was really good!  I never read the book, but I remember using quotes from the movie in my AIM away messages when I was feeling emo back in high school.

Sunday

In the morning, I had the same breakfast that I made for myself on Saturday morning.  A mix of two cereals and pumpkin coffee.  Delicious.

After letting my breakfast settle a bit, I got dressed and went to the gym.  I had to force myself to go, because I knew I needed to get my long run in of 8 miles completed before Monday.

Guess what?

I did it!  Here’s proof.  Since the treadmills at the gym don’t go over 1 hour at a time, I did as many miles as I could, hit top and then reset the treadmill.

When you add those two numbers together, you get 8 miles in 1:16:24.

I realized so many things during that run, but I want to wait to share that until later on in the week.  I’m just so happy that I did it.  Yes, there were MANY stopping breaks, but I did it and that’s all that matters.

Gosh, don’t you love blurry iPhone photos as much as I do?!  Anyway, as you can see in the able photo I did roll around on the exercise ball for a little bit and stretch my legs out when I got home with Mr. Foam Roller.  However, a few hours after the gym my left knee started to hurt really bad.  It actually still is in a lot of pain.  It hurts when I bend my leg, but not when I extend it.  I hope its just sore and not really injured.  Any thoughts?

Sunday night, Bry and I went to dinner at BoneFish Grill with his parents, his sister and her husband for his sister’s birthday!  I LOVE BoneFish.  They always have such great food.  It’s actually a place that Bryan and I go to for New Year Eve dinner!  We’ve gone for the past 2 or 3 years, and it’s always amazing.  Last night for dinner I had one of their specials:  swordfish with pumpkin ravioli.  HOLY COW IT WAS THE BEST RAVIOLI I’VE EVER HAD!

Too bad I didn’t snap any photos.

i had that same pain last week, i’m still not sure why i had it, it went away finally, but it’s still weird and scary. hope yours gets better!!

i also ran 8 miles this weekend!! love how it makes you feel accomplished 🙂

yeah it’s slightly better than earlier. i hope it just keeps getting better!

I ran (with walking breaks!) 4 miles on Saturday with my sister! Disney Princess here we come! 🙂

I loooved Perks of Being a Wallflower when I read it and I really want to re-read it before I see the movie!

Perks was SO SO SO SO SO SO good 🙂

Wow, 8 miles…. that’s amazing! I did not run this weekend, or do any exercise of any kind. I have a bug bite on my back… and it got infected! (grosssss) So the doctor told me she didn’t want me sweating! I was pretty upset because of the routine Beach has got me doing.. But I get to work out today! So that’s certainly exciting!

I’ve never been to the Bonefish Grille! Must put it on the list I guess. But we did have dinner at Red Robin, which I have never been to before! Blue Moon and a grilled chicken sandwich… yummmm!!

Haha thanks Danica. Ew on the bug bite. That’s terrible!!!

It might be some slight swelling in the ligaments or around the joint itself. Did you just sit when you were at home? I found that with my knee, moving it fairly often after long runs and wearing a compression sleeve/tensor over it helped — just to keep the fluid moving through so it doesn’t collect. Might not be the same thing for you, but it might be worth a shot if it happens again. Is it still sore?
Congrats on getting the run done!! And for realizing that your body wasn’t up to it on Saturday. Both are fabulous victories. You’re really starting to pump it!! In two days, you did almost as many miles as you were during a full week such a short time ago!! 🙂

Yeah, it’s still kinda sort. Not as bad as this morning/afternoon. I’m hoping by Wednesday I’m good to go!

Im no help on the running/pain but know whenever my IT band throbs I foam roll and also roll my booty with a lacross ball.
We saw a different movie this weekend—Im so bummed the husband didnt wanna see PERKS!

Perks was so so good. Had me almost in tears in some spots. Definitely go see it with your girlfriends!
