It’s been since July that I’ve written an At The Moment post, so this is long overdue. If you’re new around here, this is a series I do highlighting the things I’m listening to, reading, loving, and eating at the moment.

Listening

I’ve been listening to a lot of instrumental music while working, which has been enjoyable and has helped with my productivity. Here’s my Spotify Playlist titled Instrumental Vibes if you want to listen along. I’m constantly updating it as I find good songs.

Aside from that, I haven’t found a lot of new songs lately. I’ve been listening to a lot of the same stuff. A few favorites though are “Pink Shades” by Wild Rivers, “I Like Me Better When I’m With You” (Spotify Recording version) by Lauv, and “Line by Line” by JP Saxe and Maren Morris. Actually, if you’re looking for new music, anything by JP Saxe is amazing. I could listen to his stuff all day.

Reading

I’m reading a few books at the moment. I’m still working through This Time Next Year which is usually a book I would fly through. I think it’s taking some time because I took a break and read Untamed, which was absolutely amazing. Definitely worth all the hype. I want to finish This Time and give it a rating on my Stories, since you guys love when I do book reviews there.

In between novels, I’m also reading a chapter here and there of The Artist’s Way, which is a book to help with creativity. One of the takeaways from the beginning is to integrate Morning Pages into your day. It’s 3 pages of stream-of-conscious writing done first thing in the morning. I’ve only been doing it for 20 days or so, but I plan on writing a blog post all about my thoughts after a month. So far it’s been life changing. Yes, I’m waking up 30 minutes earlier every morning to get them completed, but it really clears my head.

I also just bought two additional books – The Book of Joy by Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu and My Life in France by Julia Child. Keep an eye on my Stories for my thoughts.

Loving

As someone who feeds off their environment, our bedroom was a place I wanted to really refresh this year. Over the last month, I bought some new things which make it a more relaxing space to unwind at the end of the day.

First up were new lightbulbs. Seems random, but our old lights didn’t dim and it was driving me crazy. Right after Christmas after doing too many hours of research, I bought the Philips Hue White Ambiance Smart Bulbs. Trust me, I get it. $45 for 2 light bulbs seems wild, but they really do set a nice vibe. You can control them from your phone, set your own presets, and change the light from a warm yellow to a bright white. Completely worth the investment.

We also sold our old nightstands and bought new ones. Nothing fancy, just the Hemnes 2-drawer chests from Ikea. They are much larger than our old ones and have actual drawers, which I love. Another new addition to our bedroom is our cream linen comforter from Casaluna which makes me happy to make our bed each morning. It warms up the space and adds to the coziness.

Eating

I haven’t been trying a lot of new recipes lately, which has been sort of disappointing. However… I’ve been eating avocado toast again. I had to take a break for a while, because I overdid it in the summer. I recently made a delicious spicy and sweet avocado toast with a balsamic glaze drizzle and featured it on an IG Reel. If that’s your thing I highly recommend making it sometime. It’s so easy and takes maybe 10 minutes from start to finish.
