Fav Items in My Home

I believe that a home should be a collection of your favorite treasures. When I go to purchase anything, I follow one guideline – does it give me a good feeling at first glance? Clutter makes me anxious, so I’m very picky. Call me a minimalist, I guess.

My interior design style is really all over the place. It’s complicated. However, when I see something that’s very much “me,” it’s clear. If I had to describe my taste, I’d say it’s cozy/lived-in, with a touch of clean modern and a classic Parisian influence thrown in there. I’m drawn to gorgeous crystal, black accents, rustic woods (nothing glossy!), unique prints and details, and brushed metals.

With that said, I’ve pulled together all my favorite pieces in my home for you guys today.

1. Rattan fruit bowl: I first heard about the brand Kouboo from my MIL who has a few of their rattan baskets in her home. I bought their fruit bowl months ago and it looks beautiful on our kitchen counter. It’s the perfect size for a bunch of bananas and a few apples. The rattan is such high quality, so I can’t wait to get a set of their placemats soon!

2. Solar flameless lanterns: Lights.com sent me a set of these solar flameless lanterns over the summer to try out. I love the look that real lanterns give, but with a toddler, it’s just not feasible… especially outside on a low table. These flameless candles give the same look, but are much safer! 3. Black velvet hangers: So this isn’t necessarily a decor item per say, but in my mind it is. When we moved into our townhouse a couple years ago, I made the decision to start fresh with our master bedroom closet. I’m blessed with a large walk-in, but it gets cluttered quickly if I don’t keep up with it. One way to streamline the space was to get rid of our clunky, white, plastic hangers and invest in thin, black, velvet ones. Not only are they much nicer looking, but they save a ton of space and keep my clothes from slipping off.

4. Jewelry stand: I’m not the biggest fan of jewelry boxes because out of sight out of mind. I like putting my jewelry on display, so I can grab them easily. I’ve been using this stand for years and highly recommend it!

5. Silver bar cart: I purchased this bar cart years ago, but I love it just as much as when I first bought it. It’s both a gorgeous and functional piece.

6. Homebody book: I love decorating with books because they give an instant cozy feel, no matter what room you put them in. Pro tip: Remove the paper cover from hardback books. You’ll be shocked to notice how pretty the book really is. It creates a cleaner look that’ll blend with any decor. Homebody by Joanna Gaines is one of my favorites. The binding is a light gray linen with gold lettering. So stunning!

7. Roald Dahl quote art: When you walk into my home, the first thing you’ll see down the long hallway to the living room is a large Roald Dahl quote at the end. It’s definitely a statement piece, but not in an overwhelming way. The quote reads … He said, “Above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” Any time I stop to read it, I’m reminded to slow down and take in all the wonderful things around me.

8. Charleston vintage clock: My aunt gave me this clock years ago for my bridal shower. I keep it in our master bathroom and look at it every day. I like that it’s a mix of vintage with modern. It’d look great in homes with many different types of decor.

9. Crystal vase: I have a thing for crystal. I got that obsession from my grandmother who had the most amazing collection in her house. When I was younger, I used to help her clean every item in her China cabinet. Although this vase wasn’t hers, it reminds me of a lot of her style and it makes me so happy.

10. Silver & black photo frame: As I mentioned above, I love pops of black accents throughout my home. This silver and black frame isn’t cheap by any means, but it’s one of those things I’ll have forever. I like frames that are neutral like this because they give the photo inside a chance to stand out.
