The 7 Pieces of Jewelry I Wear Every Day

Two of my most frequently asked questions on Instagram are, “Where are your rings from?” and “Where is your necklace from?” This is surprising to me, because I’ve honestly never been much of a jewelry person. Of course I like sparkly things, but my jewelry collection is decently small. I’m more likely to purchase a few high quality pieces that I can wear every day versus costume jewelry that’s worn once or twice on special occasions. I tend to gravitate toward dainty over chunky (except for these adorable hoops that I’ll mention later), as I find it suits my style and is more versatile.

I don’t switch up my jewelry very often. Every day, I wear one necklace, 5 rings, and one pair of earrings. The necklace and rings are always the same, but the earrings vary depending on my mood. I’m a busy mom who struggles to get out the door on time, so I don’t like having to think about my accessories in the mornings.

Necklace

The necklace I never take off is a Maya Brenner initial necklace in yellow gold with 2 letters. I have a 16 inch chain, which is the standard when ordering. After I had my daughter, I wanted a piece of jewelry to represent her. There’s so many options for initial jewelry, but I wanted something really simple and classic, but most of all dainty. I’ve been following Maya Brenner on Instagram for years, so it was the first brand I thought of when shopping. I chose this necklace in particular because the letters are part of the chain. Most initial necklaces have letter charms that slide around the chain, and that really bothered me. I also love that you can customize this necklace with more initials and gemstones at a later date. If we end up having more children, I’ll be doing that!

Right Hand Rings

The newest ring in my collection is the Catbird threadbare gold ring. It looks like a plain thin band, but up close you’ll notice it has a slight hammered effect. I’ve had my eye on this piece since I saw Meghan Markle wearing it last year. Obsessed, I know. I’m glad I purchased it though, because I get more compliments on this ring than any other accessory or clothing item. I personally like it as a stand alone ring, but you could purchase a few and stack them which would look really great too.

I’m a fan of mixing metals to keep things interesting, so the other two rings I wear on my right hand are silver. On my thumb, I wear a Pandora beaded ring that I bought years ago. I ordered a size up from my normal ring size, so I can wear it on multiple fingers. The beaded design gives it some texture that helps it stand out from the other rings I wear.

On my middle finger, I wear an lowercase “n” ring from Catbird. Catbird is one of those jewelry brands that I will continue to purchase from for years and years. I absolutely love their packaging and branding and they have the most responsive customer service team. Unfortunately, they don’t make this ring anymore, but I found a similar version on Etsy if you’re interested.

Left Hand Rings

On my left hand, I only wear my wedding and engagement rings because I don’t love how they look alongside other jewelry. Both rings are from a local jeweler Milanj so unfortunately I can’t link them (and honestly would feel weird doing so). My wedding ring is an eternity band with a shared prong setting. This means that the diamonds go all the way around and each stone shares a set of prongs with the stone adjacent to it. As opposed to a channel setting which has diamonds in a channel of metal, a shared prong setting has less visible metal, allowing more light to pass through each diamond. Basically, it’s the easiest way to add more sparkle to your ring.

My engagement ring matches almost perfectly to my wedding band. It’s a solitaire round cut diamond with diamonds in a shared prong setting almost all the way around the band. I recently had my ring reset in platinum, because I’m a klutz and broke it. If I could offer one piece of advice when shopping for engagement rings… if you can afford platinum, go with that. It’s a much harder metal and will be more durable over time.

Earrings

I lose earrings way too frequently to ever invest in real diamonds. I’d be nervous the entire time they were in my ears. Instead, I wear these cubic zirconia studs from Target. They match everything and I don’t have to worry if I accidentally lose one, which is likely to happen at some point. If I’m not wearing studs, I’ll wear this pair of chunky hoops from Madewell. I love the vintage gold color and that I can dress it up or down. It’s one of those pieces that appears much more expensive than it is.
