Like I promised, my first interview has been with LizYArtur (YouTuber & Blogger). Liz, Thank you so much for taking the time to answer these questions for me! Your words, videos & blogs are inspirational and very helpful for those trying to stay fit!
When did you start making YouTube videos?
– I started creating and uploading videos for my YouTube channel towards the end of June 2009.

What inspired you to begin making videos?
– One day I decided to search the internet for some new makeup ideas and inspiration. My husband suggested that I search YouTube. I typed “makeup” into the search box and all these videos with beautiful girls appeared. That’s when I started watching and learning more and more about makeup and the application process. I was instantly addicted to watching these videos! All of the beautiful girls, guys, women and men who create these wonderful beauty videos inspired me to start creating my own.

What are your favorite videos to make? (hauls, tutorials, fitness/health etc.)
– Honestly, I really do not have a favorite video to create. I enjoy thinking, writing, filming, editing and uploading each one of my videos. I enjoy making all of my videos because I am interested in all topics that regard beauty, fashion, health and fitness. The whole process of creating my videos is such a positive outlet for me and just another way for me to create something.

Why did you decide to move to Spain?
– My husband, who I met in the states, is originally from Barcelona, Spain. When we were dating I would travel with him every summer to visit his family here in Spain. I immediately feel in love with this country! Since I first started dating my husband, he made it very clear that one day he would move back to Spain. After our first visit together to Spain, my husband was amazed at how much I loved everything about the country. It was at that moment that we began to discuss possibly moving to Spain sometime in the near future.

Being that it is approaching summer, what is your favorite bronzer & sunscreen?
– I love bronzer! It is one of my “must have” makeup products! I really like matte bronzers because they look the most natural throughout the year. Two of my favorites are Bare Escentuals in Faux Tan and Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in Light. As far as sunscreen goes, I like to use one that is oil free. My current favorite is Solcare Oil Free for Oily Skin SPF 30. This sunscreen does a great job and protecting my skin and moisturizing.

Have you always followed a metabolic diet? If not, what make you make that choice?
– I have not always eaten according to my metabolic type. I actually just discovered metabolic typing recently and what it really is. Over the years, I have read a lot about health and fitness. With each year that goes by my knowledge is expanded. I decided to start eating according to my metabolic type because it makes so much sense to me. Metabolic typing is eating according to what your body natural wants and needs to eat. That just makes so much sense because everyone’s body is different. I do not believe there is ONE diet or way of eating that works for everyone. I have had great results with eating according to my metabolic type.

For those recent college grads out there (like myself), what are some tips you can give in order to help stay in shape and continue eating right?
– My tips for recent college grads and everyone who is trying to stay in shape and eat healthy is to set short and long term goals for yourself. Keep a journal to write down all of your goals so you can focus on them daily. Short term goals are great because they give you something to aim for every day or week. Once you have accomplished your short term goals, your long term goals suddenly appear more reachable. Also, take one day at a time and remember that everyone makes mistakes but tomorrow is a new day!

Your blog profile says you are a business owner, what do you do from 9 to 5?
– Well, I actually don’t work on the typical American 9 to 5 schedule. My days and hours are Tuesday – Saturday 9 until 1 and 4 until 8. Most businesses in Spain close midday anywhere from two to four hours at a time. That’s another reason I LOVE living in Spain! On these days I work in the hair salon that my husband and I own. It’s a lot of fun!

What did you go to school for? Did you ever has aspirations to be something other than you are today?
– I went to college to become a dental assistant. I worked as a pediatric dental assistant in the states for about two years before we moved to Spain. Your second question is one that I think about quite often, actually. I feel extremely blessed to be living the life that I am. No, I have everything and more that I have ever wanted in life. I am also achieving more in my life that I ever thought possible and I don’t plan to stop anytime soon, God willing!

Moving to in Spain, I bet learning a second language was a challenge. What advice do you have for those trying to learn a second language? Did you use any software or tutoring in order to learn some of the language before moving?
– From my experience, I can’t say that learning a second language has been a challenge. I find learning another language to be a lot of fun and it’s something that I really enjoy! If you are living abroad and are not fluent yet, there are difficulties when it comes to communication. This is when you have to become creative and try and figure out other ways to express what you want to say instead of using words. My advice is to be patient with yourself, speak as much as possible and PRACTICE! You can’t be shy to speak because you are afraid you will make a mistake; that’s how you learn. I make so many mistakes everyday but I have learned to laugh at myself and learn from my mistakes. I briefly used Rosetta Stone to learn a little bit a Spanish. I really knew VERY little Spanish when I arrived here in Spain and about three words in Catalan. I stopped using Rosetta Stone once I arrived in Spain and started picking up the languages from working in the salon and listening to our clients speak all day. I am very proud of myself for how much I have learned in ten months!
