Weekend Recap (8/10- 8/12)

August 13, 2013

Hello everyone.  If you’re a regular reader of mine, you’re probably wondering why my Weekend Recap post is live on Tuesday instead of Monday.  It’s because I took a vacation day yesterday and my weekend was extra long!  Aren’t those weekends always the best?

Now it’s Tuesday and I woke up to a really bad thunderstorm.  It’s been raining for hours.  Not the easiest way to start my work week, but that’s OK.  Only four more days until the weekend!

Saturday

On Saturday, Bryan and I drove up to Bethlehem, Pa. for Musikfest.  We have been going for the past few years and it’s always a nice time.  The drive is amazing.  We even had to pass through a mountain – which is always my favorite part.

This year, we got there a little later than usual, which was actually much better.  The heat wasn’t as bad at 5PM and we still had plenty amount of time to visit all the vendors and see a few musical acts.  I even got my favorite food at Musikfest – Aw Shucks corn.  That place is awesome.  If you’re in my area and ever see this company at an event, I highly recommend getting their corn.  It’s flavored with their special Aw Shucks seasoning, parmesan cheese and butter.  AMAZING.

As the night went on, we took the shuttle bus over to the Steel Stacks and stood outside of the Ke$ha concert.  SHE.IS.TERRIBLE.  No joke.  We could hear perfectly because the stage was outside.  Her microphone was even auto-tuned from what I could gather.  Still terrible.  We did get to visit the Steel Stacks though and take a few pictures.  Overall, an amazing time!

Sunday

When I woke up on Sunday, I knew it was going to be another great day!  Bryan and I set our alarms for 7AM and was in the car by 8AM to head to the beach.  Living so close to New Jersey, we’ve been to many of the beaches.  One we haven’t visited though was Asbury Park, so we decided to go there on Sunday.  Asbury Park is pretty great.  It’s a very small boardwalk (.5 mile I believe) and the beach is very nice.  However, since the beach is so small, it gets pretty crowded.  We arrived around 10AM and by noon, there were hundreds of people there.

I didn’t go into the water because it was a bit breezy on Sunday, but Bryan did and said it wasn’t too bad at all.  I enjoyed the day by laying on the beach, listening to the Vampire Weekend Pandora station and reading magazines.  Perfect!

After the beach, we drove over to Bryan’s parents’ house for dinner.  We even got to meet his sister’s new puppy, Moose.  He’s a corgi and is the cutest little fur ball I’ve ever seen.  Since he’s a puppy, he slept a lot, but when he was awake he was rather playful and nice!

Monday

Monday… such a relaxing day.  I got up pretty early, made breakfast and plopped myself on the couch until about 10:30AM.  We caught up on Whodunnit and watched a little bit of SharkWeek reruns until it was time to head over to the mall.  On my shopping list… new Tory Burch flats!  The patent leather revas that I LOVED ended up having a few of the stitching pop, and for the amount of money I paid for them there was no way I was just ‘dealing’ with it.  I returned them last month and unfortunately wasn’t able to get the same pair again, since they were discontinued.  I was able to get a pair of the Carolines!

When I looked at the Caroline online, I thought I would hate them.  I actually had another pair in mind to buy – the patent leather Eddie.  However, the Eddie was way to skinny.  I have wider feet and the shoe just didn’t feel/look good at all.

The Caroline flat is SO comfortable.  Much more comfy than they look.  I’m so happy with my purchase.  I actually had to buy flats yesterday.  While, I was at Musikfest on Saturday my Gap flats I’ve been wearing non-stop had finally broken.  I tripped while getting out of the car and I tore a hole into the side of them.  Those Gap flats were SO comfy, but I’m glad I found an amazing alternative!

After a long day of shopping, we came home and took a nap.  VERY MUCH NEEDED.  We were exhausted.  We got up about an hour later and Bryan surprised me by saying he wanted to take me back to the place we got engaged – Valley Forge Park.  I wasn’t feeling too great, but I really wanted to go so I sucked it up and went.  I’m so glad I did.  We haven’t been back to the park since that day in December, and it’s definitely different in the summer months.

This is the spot we got engaged – the top of Mount Joy.  Isn’t it gorgeous?!  I’m a very lucky woman.  Bryan always remembers the exact spot, because we were near that U-shaped tree.  We didn’t take any photos the day we got engaged, so I’m glad I have some now.

After the park, we headed back to the mall to pick up Bath and Body Works soaps.  I forgot they were running the sale when we were at the mall earlier that day and I had to get them before the sale ended.  So glad I did!  I even got a small hand sanitizer to keep in my purse.  It’s pumpkin latte scented.  I love my pumpkin!

Love the beach! It’s just so relaxing. I made ice cream over the weekend, turned out pretty well, so that was a huge win 🙂 but otherwise I didn’t do much, just got ready for the Fall Semester to begin. The place you got engaged is BEAUTIFUL!

oooh I LOVE ME THE TAUPE CAROLINES!!
